okaayy - am being transferred again but the last person I spoke to on ebay live chat help or whatever it is called just said "I checked on your account and it is showing here that someone indeed tried to access your account."

    Meaning what exactly?

  • right, apparently that person was just looking at the report I made to them!!!

now, I am talking to someone else...

have been for almost an hour..

    did you list xxx?

    yes

    and xxx?

    yes

Ok. Yes, that same computer was the one that was used. Unfortunately, for security purposes I cannot give out that information. It is not just the ip address that we use to investigate here. We have several tools here in Account Security that we use to detect this kind of activity.

Ok. My advise here is try changing the password on your account right after this chat just to make sure that no one has your password from your place

my account was not accessed by password from this house to place that listing, I can assure you fo that

there is clearly some wrong information at the ebay end of things, as that listing was not made from this house

I was actually online on wednesday afternoon when that listing was placed, and can assure you I did not place it.

Ok. Let me double check everything here. I will be right back.

Thank you for waiting. You know what, after double checking, I was able to find this third party access on your account. I am really sorry a while ago. What I am going to do here is work on your account, cancel that on my end and credit the fees. Also, you mentioned that you already changed your password just make sure that you are using a strong password like a mix of letters and numbers.

They were able to obtain the password on your account and that is why they were able to sign in using the same password.

... I am asking where they got in from... wont tell me

Ill take my WEP and change it to a WPA

Your claim that a wireless network using a 63 character WPA password is hackable is not substantiated by either reference you gave (posts #58 and #59). It is short passwords/passphrases which may present a problem in exceptional circumstances.
If you think thousands will benefit then please enlighten us

Top part ~ I find 'our' discussion very boring

Probably a phishing email you received.

Nope, I never respond to emails like that
  • right, I am trying to follow alienriks advice - I already have Hijack this, can I just update it, or am I better off to download again? If I need to download again, should I uninstall the old one?

You said malwarebytes was clean, did you update it first before running it?
  • I have trouble reading your chat log with the help operator, doesn't seem to make much sense. Just use the latest version of HJT.
