I'll get round to it soon enough.
Build a compost bin. You'll be so desperate for something to put in it that you'll cut the grass. Worked for me, anyway. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
lol not as bad as me- my lawnmower is still in it's box!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790

I bought a new lawnmower last Spring as the existing one was starting to sound rather poorly, but guess what, it carried on working all year! It even fired up first time last week! :rotfl:
So, I'll carry on using the old one until it dies whilst the new one continues to sit in it's box in the shed, and will probably be worth half what I paid for it by the time I get to use it“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Well, a surprisingly productive midweek evening, to be honest. Such a nice day here I wanted to do something.
As you may remember, I moved one gooseberry bush because I wasn't happy with where I'd planted it, but left it too late to move the other. Poor thing's all choked up with weeds, which has to affect its ability to produce fruit, I'm sure.
It bugs the hell out of me every time I look at it, so tonight I've bitten the bullet and got stuck in. Both me and the plant are relatively (but not entirely) unscathed.
You can just see it to the left of the compost bin here:
And this is it now, with the huge pile of weeds I've extracted from around it:
:j That was really satisfying. Not only that, I found my first baby sawfly larvae. Nice to catch them early - I've headed straight for the chemical weaponry: Provado Ultimate Bug Killer. I do like to be as organic as I can, but the line has to be drawn somewhere, and sawfly are way over the other side of it. This year I'm gonna fight for my fruit. And I'm bigger than they are.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I cut the grass for the second time this year, and just as I was finishing, my mower decided to stop working. Then I figured it out, I have went to B&Q, bought one of those pots of oil to mix into the petrol to make it 2 stroke, mixed it in all good and proper, added it to the mower.........pity I forgot the mower was a 4 stroke!!! Oil all over the air filter, suppose I will just have to weaken the mix by adding some normal petrol.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

I've got 2!
Everything possible goes in them both mate!
For the first couple of years, they were on the bed where I now do most of my planting. I moved them a year ago to expand the room I have for putting out plants.
All will be well!:cool:It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Well, I didn't mow any lawns!
However, I have repotted all my sprouts (got loads) brocolli (13 plants) and a fair few tomato plants too. I also have 8 courgette seeds which sprouted, so they've now been repotted.
The cucumbers are sprouting nicely - I'll repot them next weekend, too early for them yet. I'll also repot my beans next weekend, & possibly the 2nd tomatio batch which appear to be coming through now.
Lawns may have to be mowed next weekend. Weather forecast for this week is sunny tues & weds again (possibly 20+ degrees here!) The rain sunday stopped me mowing, honestly! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
