For some reason I always figured the hdtv in the filename just meant the source for the capture was hdtv based, not the resulting output file.
Just checked one of the files and its 960x528, clearly outside of the range of the Pioneer, and the obvious reason why I get the sound with no video.
Not to worry, I have the xbox connected progressivley and also wireless networked so it streams my tv progs. I love it even more now....and the Pioneer a little less :-)
The HDTV has nothing to do with it. That is the sorce not the final divx etc. Repeat.... it's the 'HR' that is the problem. A normal TV series is about 400 mb. The same in 'HR' is about 900 mb. I looked into this about 5 months ago & the only players that play them are some special ones in the US. When I have one of these files I play it on my computer & watch it on my TV & the picture is very good.Nice to save.0 -
The problem is the resolution which we agree on ;-)
You can buy a Kiss 6000 and Buffalo Link Media in the UK which are capable of playing these without the aid of a PC.0 -
The problem is DEFINITELY due to the resolution and not because of its format. It is not in HDTV format .. just a regular xvid file.
You can normally tell whether it will play or not, simply by the filesize...
- a normal 40 min episode xvid files is about 350mb in size .. this should work.
- a 40 min episode with a filesize of 700mb usually wil not work .. higher res means bigger filesize.
Get a modded xbox and you will find it almost impossible to find a media format that will NOT play on it.... except for RatDVD.0 -
'HR' is definatly much better quality. I watched some of the 'lost' on the 'hr' format & now have the DVDs. The Divx 'hr' is definately much better than the DVDs.Now to find a player that plays them in the same high quality.Nice to save.0

I stand corrected, I did know that just didn't engage brain. HR high res, hdtv where its sourced from, resolution is the issue and I meant Kiss 600 below not 6000.0

Plays avi's and mpg fine off a USB memory stick and fast forwards well too, play wma and mp3 files fine too. Doesnt recognise mp4 (PSP) videos though.
Only thing is its Region 2 only which lets it down so if anyone knows or finds a hack for it then plesae post it up.Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Tried the divx movies and they worked ok I dont like the FF and rewind as they dont run fast like power dvd player etc it skips (hope u unserstand) and goes upto 16x I have downloaded the divx test v2 cd and it has all sorts of clips etc to test so will test.
Its akura when you first switch it ON, I will play about and see otherwise its going back I love me FF and REW feature on my previus dvd players. will try the mp3 player + memory card and NERO files as I suspect it wont play nero.

Links to akura hacks. Going to work my way through them to see if any work. Plays fine of an external 2.5 HDD with its own power source, too. The drive needs to be FAT formatted, not NTFS. I'm fairly certain it will work with any external HDD with its own power source as long as it's FAT.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.
