Anyone know what model this is?
I find it quite hard to find new a divx player that supports Packed Bitstream using official or unofficial firmware. Too lazy to use mpeg4modifier.

    FYI....

    Tron_ADS, the Pioneer 575 plays 5.1 ac3 sound.

It can play the sound yes, but there is no video at the same time.

The TV programs I have tried in it are all similar format, named like the following : "bones.s01e20.hr.hdtv.ac3.5.1.xvid-ctu.avi"

I get sound, but no video.

XBMC on the XBOX however streams them perfectly, and the amp picks up the 5.1 soundtrack.

    Any thoughts ?

It's the 'HR' that is the secret. 'HR' is Divx 'High Resolution'. I found a few players in the USA but all were very expensive. If someone knows how to play them cheaply, I'd like to know.
    Nice to save.

Just to confirm USB1 is definitely fast enough - I have a Tesco DVDR that plays divx files through the USB1 socket from my FAT formatted external HDD.

With regards to the above - I have the same trouble on my divx players with any TV progs that seem to have HDTV in the filename (inc CTU releases as above). I'm not sure if the fact that they are Hi-def is the problem as my PC plays them fine. I have managed to reencode them though so they play (TBH this is not worth the bother)

This should do what you require I think, you can even plug it straight into the television

You have to buy the hard drive you require seperately

    Hope this helps

Anyone know if the Aldi player is multi-region capable?

Tron_ADS, the Pioneer 575 has a resolution limit of 720 x 576. This applies to all mediatek players and pretty much Zoran, ESS and the rest. The file you can't play say HDTV. This stands for HIGH DEFINITION televsion and if you were to check the file in e.g windows you'll find the resolution exceeds the maximum the hardware can cope with.

Unless you spend £150 on a HD player you won't get any joy other that on a computer (or Xbox which is just a PC anyway)

Buffalo Link Media can play back HD divx, xvids, mpeg and more.

FYI the player in Aldi this week will have the same limitation.

Every Aldi player so far can be made multi-region, I'd put bets on that it can ;-)

    Cheers guys.
For some reason I always figured the hdtv in the filename just meant the source for the capture was hdtv based, not the resulting output file.
Just checked one of the files and its 960x528, clearly outside of the range of the Pioneer, and the obvious reason why I get the sound with no video.
Not to worry, I have the xbox connected progressivley and also wireless networked so it streams my tv progs. I love it even more now....and the Pioneer a little less :-)
