The only thing that worked wonders for me was the frontline(or equivilent)It costs about £22 for three months, and used in conjunction with the spray(acclaim),it really got rid of my cat and house fleas for good! All the other shop products didn't work.If you have house fleas, you will have to treat your cat first with the frontline, then spray the whole house, probably repeating the spray, and being thorough with the hoover.Stronghold was also good(same as frontline),but also wormed the cat as well,so two things in one go without having to hide worm tablets in food.Although expensive,I think its worth it and saves you spending a fortune on flea collars and powders. My cat and house have been flea free for a year now:D0

Your cat doesn't necessarily have to come into contact with another cat to catch them, they do actually live and breed in the grass. They only hop onto animals to feed
It's still worth mentioning to your neighbour though to check her cats over too.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Many years ago with my first cat I discovered she had fleas and I lived in a top floor flat and she never went out. Took her to the vet who sprayed her (this was a long time ago) and when I took her home she was sitting on my knee for a bit and when she got off I was covered in dead bodies, she must have been covered in them.
Anyway the moral of this story is the vet said I must have brought them into the house on my feet0 -
Found this
http://www.ah.novartis.com/products/en/program_injectable_cat.shtml
Rang my vets its £33.63
They don't do the annual vax, worm & flea package.
My boy was vaxed in March, so I guess I should wait till Sep & then he can be done Mar & Sep every year.
Any thoughts anyone?0 -

Program doesn't actually kill fleas, it basically sterilises the eggs which stops the breeding cycle in it's tracks, which is great for those who don't have a severe flea problem and are using it to maintain protection.
If fleas are already present in large numbers then it will need to be used in conjunction with an insecticidal flea product (e.g. Frontline) initially to kill the fleas too.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
