    Hi guys

sorry to invade the original thread here :) But we are having a bit of a flea issue!

Got two cats, use frontline combi regularly on both, the last time they had it was 2 weeks ago and we gave them a bath with flea shampoo before applying it.

However I had fleas land on me at least 5 times yesterday and my 16 month old daughter has some bites which I feel really bad about. I've stripped both cots and even taken the mattress covers off and washed everything on a hot hot wash.

Does anyone know if this indorex stuff is safe to use with babies around? Aswell as the 16-month old I've got a 5 month old too.

    Any advice greatly appreciated

    Kimberley x

PS just looked up Indorex on one site and it says it's to kill flea infestations in carpets, the room that seems most badly affected is the living room - hardwood floor, no carpet. Can it be used on furniture too?

Send the children out for a few hours whilst you spray the house - once the indorex is dry its safe - you just dont want them to be breathing it in whilst you are spraying (just to be safe)

Heres what I do. I start at the top of the house and work down. All bedrooms - strip beds and wash bedding on a 60 wash, hoover and then spray particularly around the skirting and under the beds and remembering to spray under rugs. You are not supposed to use on the mattresses but I have sprayed the spare bed as my dog does tend to sneak in there and its not in constant use by humans. I shut the windows and door and leave for an hour or so before going back in to make up the beds.I do the bathrooms - just around the skirting. Hall, stairs and landing - hoover and spray all carpets and skirting. Sitting room - the backs and underneath furniture, all carpets, skirting, rugs and under them, under any units that are raised from the floor. Then the kitchen I spray skirting and around the kickboards. After hoovering I replace the bag - if you have a bagless make sure you empty it outside.

Honestly it doesn't take long at all and I just incorporate it into my yearly spring clean. I haven't had a flea infestation since the first one many moons ago. Once the house is sprayed yearly then you need to only treat your animals

You need to get some frontline for kittens from the vet ASAP, Fleas can actually kill a kitten, they bite them so much that their immune system fails to work. They will also have worms if they have fleas and that could kill them too, please phone the vet ASAP and get the products you need for the kittens, Mum and the house. Good Luck

You make me laugh, you have no ideal what the hell you are on about and now you are not sounding clever you are just looking like a big head.

Dog and cat fleas are two DIFFERENT types of fleas, you'd know that if you really knew anything about them so please refrain from saying they are or I just have to wate the time of my friend whom is a vet!!!!

Second, That would be odd, on the pack of my flea kit says kills fleas instantly, that would be flase advertising, so I best contact trading standards, oh hang on, my friend and me both used it and the live fleas DIED instantly.

You need to get your facts correct and stop posting your carp!

Ermmm I think you'll find it's YOU who needs to get your facts right!

For a start I can't see anything written in Emmabeth's post about cat and dog fleas being the same species. And secondly, it was YOU that said you could catch a tapeworm from being bitten by fleas :rotfl:

What Emmabeth said was perfectly true that it is possible for a human to catch a tapeworm if they ingest a flea that is carrying the larval stage of the tapeworm!

I suggest you go ask your vet friend to clarify this for you as you appear to have problems understanding it :)

Simple Advice - hey, I'm a pest-control geek, I do apologise if that annoys you.

You are so so very correct, there are cat fleas and dog fleas (and rabbit, hedgehog, human...etc etc).

Most fleas you will encounter in the average home... are cat fleas. Even on the dog.

The relevance of the type of flea though, I'm not so sure on here... what was your point with that? (BTW.. theres lots of types of worm too, and lots of types of tapeworm!).

Strikeback and many other products can claim that it instantly kills fleas - it does kill a flea the instant the flea contacts it (well probably).

It does NOT and cannot claim that it instantly wipes out a flea population, as it does not and cannot instantly kill all adult fleas, flea eggs and flea larvae at the same time. It is a matter of clever wording, something most of us have noted is used in most product label claims.

I use ACCLAIM from the vets. but cheaper on line perhaps.

It's expensive at £15 for a can, but cheaper on line perhaps, but it really does last a whole year and in my house a can does two years with a bit left over so all in all for peace of mind a small price to pay.

I used Acclaim from the vet when my boy got fleas:mad:

    Worked well.

I use Frontline spot on & the 4fleas tablets. I treat with each alternate months. Just in case they get imune to anything, I think its no harm to swap back & forth, the tablets work really well too:D

our kitten had fleas the other week , took her vets he gave her a spot on treatment STRONGHOLD the fleas where all gone in 24 hrs brill stuff , i also had a spray for my house called Indorex touch wood its worked .

I prefer Stronghold as well, and it treats for ear mites as well as fleas. Works much more quickly than frontline, and I find it last a lot longer as well.

Acclaim is absolutely brilliant for the house - but not so easy to use if you have fish. Make sure you turn off all filtration equipment and cover tank up with blankets or some such (even if it has a lid) before using.

Great idea about the steam cleaner though - hadn't realised it would do that, and I do actually have one! Thanks for that.

You can't get nuvantop anymore - but it was really good.

You need to get Frontline Spot On, supermarket stuff don't work. We have 10 cats and the oldest is 6 and the youngest about a year. We had fleas the very first time we brought our first baby home, since then, nothing.

You only have 2 and you have done all that yet the poor cats STILL have fleas

You can now get Frontline from your Pharmacy, that saves you money taken each cat to the vets before they prescribe it.

How do FRONTLINE Brand Products kill fleas before they can lay eggs on my pet?
Once new adult fleas jump on your pet, they must be present on the host for at least 24 to 36 hours before they can lay eggs. Our research data indicates that FRONTLINE Brand Products, when used monthly, will kill your pet's fleas and sterilise any pregnant within 18 hours of application - before they can lay eggs.
