Well done you on keeping your suprise pet!

As recommended the vet's is a good place to start. All cat food manufacturers have kitten clubs - I recommend joining them all to get free samples but mostly give her Burns or any good quality dry food. The sooner the better - cleaner/less smelly litter, healthier cat, better teeth & happy disposition with less tummy upsets.

Once you have all the jabs etc from the vets turn back to your computer as you can get everything cheaper on there - posting about best suppliers is on this site & I'm starting to check it for offers before I order nowadays (credit crunch).

Don't like to rub salt in your wound but they're even cheaper at £16.49 for 6 with free delivery from https://www.vetuk.co.uk Have used them for ages, cheapest I've found and fast delivery too.
  • Personally i use Bob martin spot on for my cats and dog, £7.99 ish per pack and you treat every 3 months. It stops the reproduction cycle and i haven't had a problem with fleas since i started using it.

Just started letting our cats out again since we have moved house, now not near a main road. I worry a lot though because our tom cat has a habit of roaming. I'd be a wreck if ever i lost him but i know he's happier being able to play outside

The title pretty much describes the situation. I have 2 indoor cats which are male brothers aged 3Yrs, They have had fleas for quite a while which I have treated with spot on, flea Shampoo and flea Spray all at some point this last few weeks.

Also used a carpet flea powder and after a few days have been Using a flea spray for furniture. my partner and I are getting bitten by fleas on our ankles constantly and nothing seems to totally get rid of them. We get relief for a few nights then it starts all over again.

The flat we live in is not big so spraying all over in ALL rooms is easy to do but doesn't seem to get rid of the fleas.

I combed both Cats again Last night and despite flea shampoo and spray and combing last sunday the poor Cats still have a few aliveones. 0ne cat suffers more than the other so I am combing them both daily with a flea comb which luckily they enJoy!

Can anyone advise or help on this as the heat also seems to make it worse...

Are you buying supermarket/pet shop products?

If so its the reason your infestation hasnt cleared up - they dont work

Go to the vets and buy frontline combo and treat your cats. While there pick up a tin of indorex and treat your whole house. Empty your hoover bag after vaccuming. Wash all your bedding and the cats bedding on a 60 wash. Treat the cats and the house together and you will see an improvement straight away . The frontline combo and the indorex will work continuously - the combo for a couple of months before needing to reapply - the indorex for 12 months

Yes, I mainly have bought items from Supermarket and also from petsathome store so I had hoped it would work. This stuff is not cheap either!

No they arent cheap and at the end of the day they are a false economy .

Im saying to go to the vets this time for the frontline combi and indorex but for future you can order frontline (not combi) from the net and pick up indorex from a lot of retailers such as boots which a lot of people do find to be cheaper. Personally for the small price difference and the time it take for delivery Im happy enough to buy from my vet.

As long as your cats have been seen recently (in the past year) your vet shouldnt need to see them and you can just purchase from reception.

One other thing, if you are buying supermarket wormers - they dont cover all worms plus you have to worm more often. A wormer from the vet is a couple of pound and my dog is done twice a year - cost less then one packet of supermarket wormer

As mentioned you will need to get Frontline from the vets for the flea's (some Pets at home do sell it now and it is cheaper, you have to fill in name and address etc when buying) you can also get a product from the vets to kill the fleas in the house, if the cats have got fleas they will also have worms so also as mentioned you will need to get worming tablets from the vets.
