If fleas are already present in large numbers then it will need to be used in conjunction with an insecticidal flea product (e.g. Frontline) initially to kill the fleas too.
Mine boy is 6 & has had them bad once (in the flea house) & mildly a couple of times.
Do you think it would work for us?0 -

I don't see why not! Especially as you've already been treating him monthly anyway and also have some spray to treat the house as well, then I'd say he'd probably be the perfect candidate for Program injections
As always, speak to your vet first though in case there are any reasons you're not aware of that might prevent him from having the injections.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Thanks
No what I mean was do you think that ALONE would work for us?
Because if I'm paying the vet £70 a year for flea jabs, I don't expect to have to buy other stuff too, IYSWIM.0 -

That does only work out at £5.83 a month, which is remarkably cheap when compared to all the "necessary" beauty products we treat ourselves to.
I think it's a necessary price worth paying as I hold myself very responsible for my pet's welfare - happiness as well as health etc.
I've just spent £40 on a spray tan and some St Tropez stuff, so I daren't begrudge the annual cost of Lita's welbeing.
If you break down the costs, they appeaar much more justifiable.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

Ultimately it should do yes, although as I mentioned previously it doesn't directly kill fleas so if there are any present in the house at the moment these won't be killed instantly, although once they've jumped on your cat for a feed they will become sterile, preventing them from breeding and continuing the life cycle.
You said you already have some Acclaim so I would use this anyway to protect the house and then you should only need to have the injections twice yearly from thereon“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

I see your point, but its still the most expensive flea treatment available. You can get Frontline online a lot cheaper.
As I said, I don't mind if it works, but if I shell out for the top one, then I wouldn't expect to carry on buying others.
I get the most expensive annual jab with the lukiema in it (or something or other thats an extra)
Also I buy the miramax (or something like that worm tabs) at about £8, because the vets says they are the best. But I would expect to buy those & buy Drontal as well IYSWIM:D0 -

Interestingly, most dogs are actually infested with cat fleas. True Dog fleas (i.e. the species) are actually pretty rare. People often forget that cats and dogs can share their fleas.0 -

Dont be lulled into a false sense of secuirity - the eggs are lying there in your carpet just waiting to hatch.
Get the right treatment
Good luck xx0
