Dont be lulled into a false sense of secuirity - the eggs are lying there in your carpet just waiting to hatch.
Get the right treatment
Good luck xx
Exactly! They're waiting for you to put the central heating on and warm the place up a bit!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Daft question...but how big are fleas and how would i know if i had them on cats and in house, i have 2, 2 year old cats and frontline them every month.0
-
in my case I have found some so tiny they are like black specks but def are fleas as they sure know how to jump. Some have bit quite big - big enough to pick up and squeeze to death - satisfying but I don't have enough time to go crawling on the floow finding fleas to squeeze to death.
If you use a flea comb you will see them if your cat has them - I use a bright yellow one so they show against it.
I tend to find them on my cats under their chin or on their heads by their ears.0 -
thanks never seen anything jump up from carpet, i check my cats every now again with a comb and white tissue i only get lots of hairs nothing black and crawling..id die if i ever so one tho.
Im all itchy now thinking about them grrrrrrrrrr0 -
Hi everyone, I'm in real need of your help please! We had 2 cats and never had fleas, despite never Frontlining them or anything
We now have 3 cats and a 3 month-old kitten and are riddled with the b*ggers!! So far we've treated all the cats 3 times - first with Frontline, then some brand from supermarket I can't remember the name of and also spraying the whole house. Then the vet very kindly gave me 2 free Kitten tubes and told me how to distribute them amongst my 4 cats. The fleas eased off for a few days but now have started coming back  Please, please can anyone tell me the best (and of course most cost effective) way of getting rid of them, I'm despearate and fed up of being jumped upon/bitten (OH is immune, lucky thing). We don't have any carpets in our house except for rugs. Not sure if it's relevant but the mum and kitten were strays. Any help would be very gratefully received!
EDIT: up to Sept 07 on the posts, lots of conflicting advice but thankyou to everyone for posting,a real help. One of my cats has a bald patch where we put the Frontline and two of them in particular get very distressed when we apply it, as if it's burning them - any ideas why that might be and what we can do? Easy solution to getting the cats to take tablets is get a finger full of crab paste and hide the tablet in there I've had no problems getting tablets down my cat this way he loves the crab paste0
-
Reason for the worming tablet is that Stronghold doesn't treat tapeworm so AFAIK you still need to worm once a year;)
If you can crush the worming tablet, between two spoons, and mix it into something really tasty, I used to use the meat or fish pastes.
If that won't work the traditional way is the wrap the cat in a towel, use two fingers to open the lower jaw, place the tablet as far back into the mouth as you can and then stroke the cat's throat until they swallow.....easier said than done tho:D0 -
My cat reacted badly to Frontline, lost fur, very red sore skin and not well at all.
Changed to Stronghold and all OK now, and best of all no sign of any fleas.0 -
At my vets now they have started to do a injection for worming and fleas sounds better to me0
-
how much does this injection cost & how often is it necessary please?0
