Very rarely do I or MR DE go overdrawn, however, we have found our selves in a bity of difficulty over the last couple of months and have gone over our overdraft limits once on our Joint account and me twice in two months on my personal account!
Both these accounts are with Abbey and in all we were over our overdraft between £5 and £10 each time. So for each time a charge of £50 is ludicrious!
I phoned the call centre on each occasion and managed to get them to reserve the charges. However, I thought my luck had run out on my personal account as surely twice in two months was pushing it! Nevertheless the kind CSA removed £50 of the final £80 they had charged me. He said that it was a 'good will gesture' and can 'only do it once in 12 mon ths' he obviosuly hasnt checked the account for the reversed charges the previous month. Anyway, he then went on to say that Abbey's policy is to only reverse bank charges up to £50 for any one customer. This is obviously not true and against everything written on this site!
I'm just pleased I'm not £150 out of pocket for because of being £20 over my o/d limit.Bank Charges Claimed: 180

Littlewoods: 100 now paid0 -
From A & L, recovered for my son.
First lot: £1600, including court fees and my expenses
Second lot: £700, no court fees necessary as I reminded them I had already raised one summons !
They then closed my son's account as "he couldn't agree to their Ts & Cs". So the whole family moved to other banks ! (Impressed with First Direct !)
The best bit was: after they had closed the account, O2 sent a Direct Debit to them for my son's 'phone bill, which A & L paid. They then sent him a statement with lots of new charges plus the phone bill on it. We pointed out that THEY closed the account and any transactions after the closure date were their responsibility !0 -
Can't say how much or who from as I've had to agree to keep the settlement confidential but needless to say it was a high street bank and over £3k! I had to subit a claim via moneyclaim online and they appointed solicitors but I held my nerve and they paid in full. Keeping my nerve was the hardest bit and I lost several nights sleep. However the end result was worth it. To those considering similar action...Do your research!0

The story: I took my time and nearly gave up. Getting that £80 together to pay MoneyClaim was tough! thankfully I stuck with it! Filed on MoneyClaim on 4th Oct, they acknowledged on 10th my cheque arrived this morning.:T :T

Congrats mate. Been in touch with Barclaycard today over the charges i've been hit with. They wanted £3 per monthly statement(would not give me charges only) but i just said under data protection act i can see any info you have on me. Also same with halifax. If you complain enough, you'll get info!!
I am very nervous about going through with reclaiming my money!!
Any boost of confidence will be greatly received!!0 -

Is it worth to do it for 50 pounds?
Don't need to ask about statements, charges, etc. as everything happened last week (i.e. one 25 fee is already taken by bank and another 25 is due on 27th - both for the same single transaction which dropped the balance below the agreed overdraft limit).
Customer Service is not very helpful.
Maybe just send the letter to the bank requesting to credit back the charges?
If they refuse, then just leave it?
They replied the charges are ok but as a gesture of goodwill they credited them back.
Nice. :beer:0 -

Well, my battle with Lloyds has started! They want £10 so they can send charge info off to me and it'll take up to 40 days. I'll be claiming back the interest as well. But the woman i spoke to at the place in Birmingham that deals with the data says they've been inundated with requests like mine! I did ask them to wavr the fee but they would not budge!!
THIS IS WAR!!!0 -
The fee is the standard £10 DPA fee so they are well within their rights to ask for it. But do add it on to your claim! You add the interest on only at the moneyclaim stage, but you probably knew thatLittlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

i suppose in the grand scheme of things £10 is nothing to what they've taken off me.0
