hi there, just got letter back from Alliance and Leicester saying that they cannot accept that I have been unfairly charged and that the OFT is to do with late payment fees for credit card payments and not for bank accounts and as yet the OFT has not entered into any discussion with the banking industry regarding current accounts. How ever should that position change in the future, then Alliance & Leicester will participate as appropriate. They also say that they are sorry and the charges have been raised correctly in line with the terms and conditions of my account, and they must stand.
Are they trying to confuse me what should I do next as they replied within 1 week, not sure now what to do HELP many thanks jane thomas0 -

You will note from most people on here that current accounts are of course included, as are many other accounts. Lots of people on here have got charges back from current accounts, I have got money back from a catalogue account. You are quite right they are trying to confuse you, but dont let it daunt you, continue unabashed!Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

The Bank of Ireland one is a weird one too, as my account is held in dublin - does anyone know if the laws are the same in Eire?
Thanks in advance

not sure if i should post this here
but i got a letter back from the bank after asking for the charges on my account
"please be aware thatthe bank is not under an obligation to present infomartion according to any particular format. therefore, your request to assemble a schedule of charges is turned aside. you may of course obtain this data from copy statements and these will be supplied to you within the next few weeks whithout charge on this occasion."
what does this all mean they sent the cheque back that i sent
thanks again

I think they are saying that they can give you the data as they are obliged to do, but are not obliged to compile all your charges for you, thats up to you to get them off your statements, which they are sending to you. At no cost.Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

I NEED SOME HELP?
I have written to NatWest with the spreadsheet showing all the charges on my account for the past 6 years and they have replied saying all were fair and in accordance with my agreement and their tarrif. I am not sure what to do now, write back and threaten legal proceedings (altohugh I did mention this in my letter), go straight to the court claim or stop and take what they say as being true, that I do not have any right to claim??? My OD is 200 and over the past 6 years I have never been more than 30 over that.
Also - RBS, they have just sent out my 6 years copy statements however they did enclose a new 'charges' leaflet, today they have charged me 38 and 30, for a reffered DD and a Care misuse, I am not sure if I have a leg to stand on and am now feeling very deflated??
Fingers crossed xxxx0 -
Hi Jodi,
No need to be delated this is what they are expected to say and do, they dont want to give you the money! So you have got your charges, sent in your preliminary letter asking for the money back? Have you sent a letter before action? If not this is the next one, giving them 14 days to pay up before action is taken. Remember you should add any charges levied against you since you started...
Please report back!Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

Thanks for your advise, I did the spreadsheet showing all charges and interest, sent this to them saying I would like a response otherwise I would issue legal proceedings and they just replied saying that all charges were right and not unlawfull. So rather than issue a letter threatening court proceedings, do you think I should just go ahead with the claim form?? xx0
