Keep getting tempted with Kindle books! I have spent £6 in the last few days, so although not that bad, I have deleted a few samples to stop myself being further tempted.
Perhaps I should add another condition: Until the EU lowers/removes the VAT on ebooks. That's supposed to be in 2016 I believe.
I don't count Kindle books in my No Buy. For me, it's less about saving money (although that's never unwelcome), and more about cutting down physical stuff.
Good about the VAT on ebooks business as that has been causing a LOT of trouble for small business sellers trying to market their own works.Elizabeth
Long-term No Buys: print books, make-up, art/craft items
Lost 8 of the 20lbs I need to shed:D0 -

Kim, I only ever bought 2 kindle books because I really wanted them (good sales pitch by the writer, I suppose). I am glad I didn't go for the physical copies as they are so much more expensive. Everything else was free through AZ. My neighbour started hss writing career off with giving away free kindle books, then penguin grabbed him, he's doing pretty well. Not all free ones are rubbish! Some do not stay free for long as well.
Re. freebies : I just go on kindle books and then click "price low to high" - all the free ones come first! I might not have bought any new books but have downloaded about 20 free ones onto my kindle for my holiday. I might be being a bit ambitious on how much reading I'll get done!Money made on etsy in April: £0

Finally finished Watership Down - took me ages and not sure why, think I was in a bit of a reading slump and wasn't reading my usual 100 pages a day.
Those last couple of paragraphsSuch a lovely book.
Think I will move onto Perdido Street Station by China Mieville, which is described as steam punk fantasy. I've read another one of his books, The City and The City and really enjoyed it, so hoping for good things with this one. Will take me a while at 700-odd pages though!0 -
Good morning!
I don't usually share on here what I take out from the library bit I had one that was such a lovely book I have to!
Kitchens of the great Midwest by J. Stradal. I had it as the audio version (in the kitchen, how fitting) and maybe the reader's charme and talent made it so special. The book follows a girl through her life as an extremely talented chef. I wish there was a recipe book with it!

Instead of trying to explain it (badly) myself, I found this:Steampunk is a subgenre of speculative fiction, usually set in an anachronistic Victorian or quasi-Victorian alternate history setting. It could be described by the slogan "What the past would look like if the future had happened sooner." It includes fiction with science fiction, fantasy or horror themes.0 -
