So I finished War Horse in a day, what a lovely story. Read half of it at work and had to stop myself from crying in the lunch room!
I might start Watership Down by Richard Adams next, my bf has already read it and he really enjoyed it.0 -

The film of Watership Down was one of my faves as a child (I was obsessed with rabbits) and I rememeber it being really sad, and a little bit freaky. I seem to be in the mood for sad books at the moment!0 -
Hi everyone! I need to join a reading challenge to help me get on with my reading list.
I've been on a No Buy of physical books since the beginning of 2015 and haven't bought one single print title.I also reduced my collection from around 1050 to about 460 for when we moved back in February.
There are still 3 boxes which will remain unpacked so that I can see which books to concentrate on, but I'm finding it hard to get back into the flow of reading up again. I'm being led astray by my lovely Kindle and all the marvellous classic collections you can get for £2 ...... Also, I only have 1 book of fiction left unread on my shelves and the rest are mostly non-fiction and/or other study texts, so not often light reading.
The current list include language textbooks in Chinese, French and German, a Chinese history book, a Bible (whole year needed in total there), a GCSE textiles book, an OU science course book and one on plant-based nutrition. So, 8 in total. Time to get myself in gear!Elizabeth
Long-term No Buys: print books, make-up, art/craft items
Lost 8 of the 20lbs I need to shed:D0 -

Hi Elizabeth!
I'd be interested to hear if this one is any good, when you are finished with it! I just started 3 MOOC courses on nutrition (they all had to start at the same time ) and am listening to the Food Revolution summit, which is running just now. Interesting stuff!
I'm still reading the Sidney Sheldon, which is a good read, but not too much time thanks to the above mentioned on-line activities. After I received this month's Kindle first free book offer I went on a free kindle book download binge:o:o. I won't have time for those before the hols, but I will not have to take or buy physical books for the journey! :rotfl:

It's a re-read for me: 'Plant-based Nutrition and Health'. Generally very good, although the constant references to evolution irritate me rather.Elizabeth

Keep getting tempted with Kindle books! I have spent £6 in the last few days, so although not that bad, I have deleted a few samples to stop myself being further tempted.
Perhaps I should add another condition: Until the EU lowers/removes the VAT on ebooks. That's supposed to be in 2016 I believe.0 -
