Hi Suz1988
If you can't get them from the library how about putting them on a present wish list instead of parting with your own hard earned cash? Have you a birthday or anerversary or another celebration coming up? In the meantime you can get through some of the unread ones. Also in my library if they don't stock a book because it's fairly new out I still request it at the desk in the hope they will buy it in the next time they get stock. Sometimes they still put me on a list and then I get to be the first to read it.WL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb

I've decided to quit on this book. I'm not really enjoying it. So off to the Charity Shop for this one!
Instead, I'm reading Ducan Bannatyne's "Anyone Can do it - My Story" About a quarter of the way into this one too.
I also have a copy of a poetry book England's Best Loved Poems and I thought I might try and read a poem every day!
Happy Reading!

But they do all start to blend together after a while, it's definitely worth spreading reading them over time. I think she's a pretty good storyteller actually and wish she'd write something that wasn't just a variation on a theme...
Talking of which is anyone a Stephen King fan - I hesitate to ask because I do think there's a bit of a snobbery around him but he is also one of my total comfort reads...
I've not read any King for years! But I really do like him, he's one of my guilty pleasures, and there are a few of them :-DLong Haul number 207 :j

I read a lot of Stephen King when I was younger and I loved them. I dont think anyone should feel guilty about what they read. There's nothing better than a bloomin good story no matter who writes it, IMO! As a teenager I read loads of Catherine Cookson cos I liked the stories. My tastes have changed over the years but starting out with those types books encouraged me to try others!
Anyway: Happy World Book Day everyone!

Slowly making my way through this thread, great idea Pickle
I've just finished Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, not my usual comfort zone, but very inspiring and had me giggling in parts.
Now halfway through Starting Over - Tony Parsons.
Love James Patterson, the occasional Lee Child, but also eager to see Kate Morton's next offering after reading The House at Riverton and The Forgotten Garden.
As for my book hoarding habits, oh dear..they are everywhere..I'd guess 50 or so unread, 80 or 90 read and tucked up nicely in bookcases, bedside tables, cupboard under the stairs (lets not go there..).
In my defence I do buy from charity shops, but Waterstones is across the road from work, how I'd love to work there.
Will investigate the swapping links later.
This won't get the ironing done.DC.

Hi DC: nice to see you could make it! And as for the book habits, I don't think you are any different to any of us on here.
Best of luck getting through the stash! :TPlease call me 'Pickle'
