Went to the library yesterday and picked up a new PC Cast book so I'm looking forward to that. Decluttered a bookcase today and managed to pluck up the courage to part with 21 books. Also made a list of books i need to complete collections for family & friends to buy as possible pressies. Surely its not cheating if its not me buying them;)

Finished Little Foxes by Michael Morpurgo last night. It might only be a children's book but does cross one off my long list! It wasn't one of my favourite books by him but it was still good. I tend to prefer the ones about people rather than animals. Doesn't mean I didn't shed a small tear (as I nearly always do) as it came to the conclusion! Will probably rad something easy going next before tackling the rest of Lord of the Rings!

Actually tackled another 3 bookcases today and was quite ruthless. Managed to part with 53 books and put aside some for an upcoming raffle and my niece.

Just started Goddess of Spring by PC Cast. Seems ok so far to be honest i find her Goddess series a bit hit and miss. I really enjoyed her Goddess of the rose but not the Goddess of legend.

    Happy reading everyone.

Had another of my goodreads wins land through the letter box this morning Dependence by Sue Noye Clark, I also started The Vagrants by Yiyun Li over night.

Aside from those two I have found a bag of 17 books I've not read yet while I was sorting out some of my boxes from the move. Will list them fully later.

I hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas. I have just one in to declare hubby bought me Me before you by Jojo Moyes.
I have decided that 2014 is the year to stop buying books and get rid of the piles we have around the house, I have already listed over 100 of the children's books on ebay and Facebook. I keep buying books because my dream is to have my own library but I live in a tiny 3 bed mid terrace with hubby and 3 growing children, so being realistic it's not going to happen.
    Happy new year.

I've been wanting to read 'Me Before You' for ages. I keep looking at the Kindle Daily deals in the hope that it'll come up, but hasn't yet. I will keep hoping.

I've been quite good recently - only one book downloaded in the last two weeks. At present I'm actually reading more books than I download!

I'm currently reading 'The Frozen Lake' by Elizabeth Edmondson. It's set in the Lake District in 1936, and it's about two rather upper crust families. I like books set in that era. It wasn't that long ago, but it was a whole different world back then.

  • Goodreads 2014 Reading Challenge: 42 books for me.

Seems I managed 41 books last year, so have upped the anti to 42! Not sure where I found the time to read 41 books, but I did. :o)

Still plugging away at Touchstone, starting quite slowly, but it's picking up now.

My fiance has this one on his 'To Read' shelf, so I hope to be able to read that too at some point, maybe even before him! :o

Are you hoping to catch the film release that's out soon?

I'm not very MSE when it comes to books...admittedly, I've been good for a few months and only bought a few new ones, but I'm a bit of a book snob and don't like reading a book if someone else has read it! I love the fresh smell of a new book and I love being the one to crack the spine, LOVE the feeling of a brand new book and it's the reason I won't get a kindle :o
I do have a few I haven't read yet though and a few series that I can read over and over again...currently re-reading the siren by Tiffany Reisz and I'd recommend it to any 50 shades of grey fans as its a much less twilight version of that! :p

I am soooo glad it's not just me! My OH calls me a 'book snob' as I flatly refuse to even consider a Kindle. For me the enjoyment of a book is in the crisp pages, the newness (although I will read shabby, preloved books too) and of course the SMELL. I always smell a book and some smell absolutely divine. I just thought it was me being weird :rotfl:

I am trying not to buy any more books as had a recent lapse in Waterstones when I went to buy my brother the Viz annual for Christmas. Also had a bit of a lapse on Amazon so have approximately 10 or so books to read. Just finished 'Gone Girl' which was very good(kept me guessing until the end) and have passed that onto my mum. Did buy 'We Need To Talk About Kevin' for 30p in a charity shop the other day, too but not beating myself up too much about that one!

So - hello to all you lovely fellow book lover/sniffers - thanks for making my day :j
