I will not buy more books in 2014...that doesn't mean I won't ask for them for birthday/Christmas. I will have a count up in the next couple of days and see how many I have to read and will also join the library.
Thinking about it...I will by one book as a friend from uni is having her second published around February
Happy new year everyonex

 Happy New Year everyone!
I completed Rule of Four, very slow burn, they don't really leave the initial location and the story is certainly of a more intellectual level, which means the book doesn't have much of a thriller level.
Also read The Complete Kylie that has been on my shelf since 2008/09. It was very interesting as it covers all her discography, TV and film work.
For Christmas I received the Bumper Book of Simon's Cat (4th book in the series) and also Craig Revel-Horwood's 2nd book (though I don't yet have the first), Tales from the Dance Floor. Was a DVD-type of Christmas.
Have also updated my reading list for 2014 and there are 67 on the list, some of which have been given to me by the other half that he has already read.
First book of the year is Touchstone, by Laurie R King. Based in 1920s. Only a handful of pages in so far.0 -
Well the no buying books rule hasn't worked too well for me over the past year as i just find so many good books in charity shops and car boot sales for a few pence. I now have more books than ever plus i am always at the library and borrowing books of friends
however i have got better at passing on the books i have just finished so that i don't get swallowed up in growing book towers. But i am more determined to actually work my way through my stash and maybe cut my trips to the library down

morning all
and a very happy new year to everyone, i cant and wont promise not to buy any new books as some are just too tempting.
this thread however encourages me to read the ones i have and not just hoard for the sake of it. im still working through my stash but last year decided if a book has been read and enjoyed it should be passed on to give someone else pleasure. i have a few that are 'keepers' that i plan to reread BUT there are just so many wonderful books out there that you just cant keep them all.
of the 22 i read last year 18 were passed on so slight inroads made.
just going onto good reads now to see if they have their reading challenge up for 2014 yet, i am going to aim at 25 this year.SPC~12 ot 124

Oh dear oh dear, I am going to have to eat my words...
Having said I didn't see the point of a Kindle and I really didn't want one I may have potentially changed my mind near the end of 2013, as my work travelling got ever-more frequent.
I may have mentioned it to my exceedingly generous OH.
He may have picked up on the hint.
I may love my Kindle already.“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”

I love my kindle. I took it on holiday last year and used it every day. I'm trying to work through some paper books as well but when I can't sleep I'll often pick up my iPad and use my kindle app to keep from waking OH up!
Have read nearly 100 pages of a book today. It is a children's book but still it's one of my unread ones*2014 £365/365days - £52/£365* *20p Savers club #17 £12.00/£50*
