I love the cake! DH and I are season ticket holders there. I'd go to the ends of the earth for the team. ;) However, I am going to Ladies' night next week which might be interesting in more ways than one!

I love Lisa Jewell books too. x

DD1 and DS2 went to yesterdays match as it was scouts day. DD1 usually watches on tv as shes always at work but DS2 treated her as a birthday pressie, they really enjoyed it.

havent read a lisa jewell before but will look out for her books now

I read another one: Second Sight by Sharon Neill.

This wasn't the type of book I would normally read. It was the autobiography of a blind medium. However, someone who also wouldn't read this type of book said it was a good story, so I thought I would borrow it from the library. It was interesting enough. Wouldn't read it again, though.

Now I might finally get through Pratchett's Raising Steam...

Oooh, could I join this for 2014? I have quite a list of books I hadn't read this year, about 86, and I've managed to read about 23 of them, though there have been some additions along the way....

Will be refreshing the list for 2014 and starting all over again.

When I was younger (back in '91-'92) I collected a series called Classic Adventures and I've never been able to finish reading them all! Thought it was about time I did. Just finished Oliver Twist, which I found to be hard going. Dickens uses a lot of words to describe things!

I'm also on GoodReads, same username, if anyone wants to connect.

Currently reading: When God Was a Rabbit, by Sarah Winman
Very good so far, reads easily and it's a good story to read. :)

Edit: By the way I found you through Maisie's signature, as I live in the Cross-stitch cafe most of the time. :)

    He he he, thanks. :)

For me I read in the mornings, while I have my breakfast, at lunchtimes, when I'm off the internet, and just before bedtime.
If I have to travel to London for work, then I will read on the train.

For the stitching, that's done in the evenings and at weekends. So it seems to work out okay that way.

Finished When God Was a Rabbit last night, instead of stitching. Quite good, the backdrops of real-life events really helped to bring the story alive.

Started Peter Pan and Wendy from my Classic Adventures collection. This one is only 125 pages long and the font is quite bit, so I'm half-way already!

Hello, I think I need to join this thread.

My problem isn't so much books, as virtual books.

I've had a Kindle for nearly two years, and I LOVE it.

I do download some of the freebie books, but my main problem is the 'deal of the day'. At 99p, sometimes it seems rude not to download it! Also, my husband has a Kindle as well, which is registered on my account, so if I manage to resist the temptation, then he starts asking for something to be downloaded.

I am trying to resist the temptation to download any more, unless the book is one by an author I really like, or a story that is of real interest to me.

In the last couple of weeks I've downloaded two books, so that is an improvement.

I'll have to count up how many books I've got on my Kindle which I need to read. I'd guess at about 20

I average a book a week, sometimes a bit more, so I've got enough to keep me going until the spring!

I'm currently reading 'The Queen's Man' by Sharon Penman. A few years ago, I read 'The Sunne In Splendour' by this author, a big Wars of the Roses story (my favourite period in history). When The Queen's Man came up a few weeks ago as a daily deal, I didn't hesitate. It's pretty good - set in the time of Richard I.

I read 'When God Was A Rabbit a couple of years ago - it was a good story
