I have finally moved 'home' to my Dads fully, my post when I got here included two new books to add to my to read pile, one a giveaway from goodreads and the other a comp win from elsewhere. Need to sort out a new full list of the books I've got to read.

  • Hi all - I'm not a newbie. I was cactuspotty but have had to set up a new MSE profile because I closed my old email account, then forgot my MSE password!

Please can I rejoin this challenge?

I've currently got 26 books to read on my 'to read' list on Goodreads and a few more dotted around at home. That should easily see my through until Christmas.

I'm currently reading Independent People by Halldor Laxness. I'm only about 50 pages in, but I'm loving it already.

What you asking for? Jump straight in! :D

As for me, I've been having a MASSIVE declutter of my flat and I have given five large boxes crammed full of books to the charity shop. I must have given a few hundred books away, and that's being conservative about it. (All my books from my childhood *sobs*)

I do not have the room for them any more, and although I am a little sad to see them go, I am happy that I will have the opportunity to create more space in my life ready for new things to enter it.

I won't count these books I have given away in my signature else it would make a mad total, but I'm very proud to have done it anyway.

    Happy reading everyone! :)

*Edits* Oh, I did buy one as well, but it's to do with my health and so is a necessary purchase.

Finished "Perfect Scoundrels" the other day - very good but for the 1st time I could work out the ending - not sure if that makes the plot simpler or me cleverer!! I was going to start "You had me at Hello" but I went to visit my Mum over the weekend and she had borrowed "Gone Girl" off her friend and since I have only read good reviews of it I borrowed it off her!

Started a new job and have some reading time at lunch time so over the past two weeks I have read

Sick of Shadows and Our Lady of Pain both by MC Beaton. That's me read the complete Edwardian series and I thought they were excellent.

Now reading Die Trying by Lee Child.
  • Finished message in a bottle. Got bored about half way through but it finished well. What to read next? I have too much choice.
I visited another free book shop yesterday and this one was even bigger and better. Picked up two books that were on my wants list. Jodi Picoults vanishing acts and James Herbert s the magic cottage.

  • I read The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks while on holiday last week. After a few pages I realised I'd started reading it before but didn't remember the end. I really enjoyed it (as I always do his books) and had a good old sob as I read it!

Next up is to finish 4 books I've started at various points and abandoned for one reason and another. I really need to stop wandering into Waterst0nes this term when I miss the bus and my bookshelf might stop groaning a bit!!

  • I'll have to have a look to see if I have "The Rescue" on my kindle. I bought it second hand with 800 books on and I know there is quite a few Nicholas Sparkes on there.
I bought the kindle hoping it would stop my book buying addiction, it didn't. However since I've discovered the free book shop I have not bought a book. Ive so reacquainted myself with the library and take the children every week.
I've now started Dark places by Gillian Flynn and so far looks just as disturbing as the last two.
