Finished "Numbers" by Rachel Ward. Its about a girl who can see the date of peoples deaths when she looks in their eyes. It was interesting to see how it dealt with the inevitability of the deaths in the book and whether you can change them.
Have now started "Garden Spells" by Sarah Addison Allen, which my Godmother lent me.No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.

i got all excited. finally managed to get rid of a bag of books from the house to send to our troops overseas and slid an extra one in. i was tough. i was all 'i really won't read that again, so it can gogogo too...'
determined.
then i was given two bags of books to also donate and there was one book that i HAD to read:
'The Real Middle Earth: Magic and Mystery in the Dark Ages' by Brian Bates.
how could i not?
so that's one out and one in
now picked up 'The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner' and i think this will go when i'm done too....along with all my other Twilight books.

Ooh please may I join this thread?
I have a pile of books waiting to be read kindly donated to me by Mr L's mother (she's a real bookworm too, I can spend hours and hours browsing her bookshelves!), and a pile of read books pending a decision about their futures...
Recently I've read "The Lady and the Unicorn" by Tracy Chevalier (which was fun) and "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini (which wasn't fun, but was brilliant and will stay in my head for a long time I think).
I currently have James Herriott's "It Shouldn't Happen To A Vet" on the go by way of light relief! I love his books, I bought the whole set in paperback with Thelwell drawings on the covers from the bookstall at the village fete years ago!
My book-buying is mainly from a) charity shops, b) village fetes (although the last fete I went to had a dreadful book stall, probably no bad thing for my purse) and c) used books on amazon marketplace. Nothing beats the smell of a new book though! I am slowly collecting Boris Akunin's "Fandorin" series after chancing across one in the library; however, I think I have to get rid of a lot of less-loved titles before I allow a new one into my precious little library!
I also have dreams of turning a spare room into a library... one day, one day... Either that or I'll move into Alnwick Castle and just live in the beautiful library there!“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”

I have read the 1st few pages and so far so good. My Godmother has lent it to everyone she knows I think and she says not one person hasn't enjoyed it - quite a claim for a book!
