Finished "Memoirs of a teenage amnesic" by Gabrielle Zevin. Really enjoyed it. I didn't like it as much as her other book - Elsewhere but it was still very good.

Finished Slaughterhouse 5 today - not at all what I expected it to be like. It was very strange but I enjoyed it in a weird way!
Reading "Uncommon Criminals" by Ally Carter next. These are both library books so after this one I'll pick another from my tbr pile. I think I'm doing better at alternating at the momentNo more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.

I've finally finished Dodger, and am trying to choose my next "tree" book am thinking I need to take a couple from the shelf and keep them on my bedside table to encourage me to actually get on with them (am still plodding through my Kindle books whilst out and about). It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Have almost finished the Arnie autobiography - it gets a bit hard going at the end when you hit his political career. Still, I'm glad I've read it, I did find it interesting.
Also read a small Penguin book on the Occupy Movement which contains some interviews by Noam Chomsky about the aims and objectives of the group which was really interesting.
Am still reading Get Real by Eliane Glaser but have to read it in bits as it's really involved and complex. Enjoying it immensely though, it's very eye-opening.
It's just been magazines the last couple of days however as I have slipped a disc (AGAIN!) and the pain combined with the medication makes concentration almost impossible. Hopefully the meds will ease the pain in the next couple of days and then I have a week off work to rest it so should be able to get back to some more serious reading then.Sealed Pot 5 number 15440 -
hi folks
hope your back eases up soon, sessie. what's the use of time off work if one can't read, eh?
just signing in here to say that i have just realised that a collected Oscar Wilde of my husband's contains some of his works that i also own in individual volumes. therefore i can free 'The Happy Prince and other stories' and 'The Canterville Ghost' from my shelves. i've decided to keep my slim copy of 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' though, as i think it will be easier to carry around with me.
because i've been trying to ease my bookshelves, i've been neglecting my Country Living subscription, so i've been trying to catch up with them and my book has slowed right down. i did Jan '13 yesterday, am halfway through Feb '13 but then have Nov and Dec 2012 to read...and that's before i can get to Mar and Apr 2013. :eek:Mortgage-Free WannabeMortgage at start [20/6/12]: £151,800/MFD Jun 2035 (age 65)Mortgage now [5/11/14]: £139,212.14/MFD Oct 2029 (age 59)Personal Library 2014:starmod: Read in 2014: 57/60 :starmod: In Progress: 2 :starmod: Books In: 94 :starmod: Books Out: 12 :starmod: TBR: 847 :starmod:0 -
I've managed to get my Kindle to work so I have downloaded *loads* of the classics for free, but I'm not counting them for the minute as I won't really be going out of my way to read them until the physical books are done (and I don't have WiFi at home so I made the most of the connection while I could). Please call me 'Pickle'

Finished "Uncommon Criminals" yesterday - it was excellent - really like Ally Carter's books. That was a library book so have moved onto a tbr book to try and keep up with my new years resolution to alternate books. So I'm going to start "The vintage teacup club" by Vanessa Greene. No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.

oops.
something i watched over the weekend reminded me that i haven't read 'Swallows and Amazons' and i suddenly had a craving to read it over the summer...
...so i popped online and bought vintage copies of that and its sequel 'Swallowdale' before i remembered that i'm not supposed to be buying books
bad me.
