My Kindle is still playing up so while I was at the blokes last night I raided his (limited) bookcase and read David Eddings Pawn of Prophesy the problem being its the first in a series of which he has them all. Have also almost finished Jack Higgins Drink with the Devil. Once that ones finished I'll be looking for something else to clear from the to read shelf.
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Ooh I'd love to join this challenge if I may? I have quite a few unread books just sitting around the house, and instead of reading any of them I decided last night that my amazon giftcard was burning a hole in my pocket, and ordered several more!! Now although they were free, it doesn't help the bulging bookcase, and doesn't free up any room for all my baby boy's new books from Christmas.

    1. To not buy another book until I have read 24 books and freed those I will not read again.

I love the idea of 'freeing' books! I tend to really hold on to all books even when I know I won't read them again - I must try to set some free at a car boot sale soon...honestly :)

Finished One Hundred Names by Cecelia Ahern which was a christmas present. Now reading The Amethysts by Frank Delaney, really enjoying it and it is a loan, so will be returning it when finished.

Stood in Asda this morning holding two books, but then put them both back. This thread must be having an effect on me :)

  • Thanks Charlies_mum, I was looking for Cecelia Ahern's One Hundred Names earlier and couldn't for the life of me remember what it was called. I have a voucher to spend so may make good use of it!

I'm hoping to finish reading The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry before the weekend. I'd probably have read more today if I hadn't nodded off on the bus coming home! It's a pretty good story and I'll admit to shedding a small tear at one point!

I'm so guilty of this, too! I've becomes a little more objective, and I have managed to get rid of some, but I stil have a long way to go. I guess it's one of those 'one step at a time' processes!

  • I've got a fairly free weekend (ish) this weekend so I'm having a bit of a sort out. Will finally count how many books I have to read! and maybe I will 'liberate' some that I'll never read again!

I've just counted up. I've got 107 books that I haven't read before on mine, or my mum's book shelf (because mine isn't big enough!) That doesn't include anything I have on my Kindle to read or anything in the loft (though I think at some stage I've read the books I have up there) A few of them are children's books which shouldn't take too much reading, and one of them I've only got 50pages left to read. I've read half of the first Lord of the Rings book, I just need to find the motivation to finish it as I'm finding it VERY hard going. I'm going to finish the 50pages tonight I hope...once I've got my room a bit more organised!

Tis true - my first step is booking in to a table top sale for the end of March, I have between now and then to sort and decide which to free. I must try to put my objective head on..... and not start reading the books again as I sort through them, my biggest weakness!

    Happy Sunday everyone :j
