May I play too?
I'm actually in a bit of a rutt with my reading and not very motivated to read at all, I have a pile of books that I'd like to read and then purge as I want the space back I also have a Kindle which is packed with books. My ultimate goal is to have just a few of my favourite books and then read those I have on my kindle and use the library for anything new that I want to read.0 -
Oh wow, how much do I need this in my life. I am a devil for amazon (oops!)
I will also pledge to not buy another book until I have read all of the ones on my shelf that I haven't read! (and I will probably get more for Christmas, which will keep me going!)
Currently reading Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut, and am loving it, although I'm also reading criticisms and analysis of it online so that I actually understand what I'm reading. I get the feeling this book is a little too clever for me!Credit card- [STRIKE]£487 [/STRIKE] £96.78 Overdraft-[STRIKE] £1000[/STRIKE] ALL GONE!

I know that feeling only too well: I tried setting myself a target of books to read in a year, and that seems to make me a little bit more motivated. I did it last year, and don't look like I will quite make it this year due to a lull over the summer, but overall it gives me enough impetus to read that bit more.Oh wow, how much do I need this in my life. I used to be as well, until I discovered my library's online ordering system, which soon gave me all the buzz of book buying in Amazon, but without the price tag - and I still got to read the books within a few days. Brilliant!

Well I have finished When God Was a Rabbit. What a great book, a real easy read - very enjoyable.
Have now picked up my first Agatha Raisin book, the Wizard of Evesham so we shall see how we get on with that. Having read the first 20 pages I am not sure it is my kind of book but I will persistJust keep swimming!0 -
:xmastree:Merry Christmas to our merry band of book addicts! :xmastree:
(In case we don't see each other before the new year, have a fabulous start to 2012 as well.)
Alas, it looks like I won't quite hit my 25 book target, but I've still read quite a lot, and I know I wouldn't have read half as many if it were not for this challenge and having a year-long goal to try to hit. Now I just have to try to make sure that the majority of the books I read next year are my own, not library lends! :rotfl:Please call me 'Pickle'

@inapickle It took me about 5-6 years to hit my target [of 50 books, then 60 books then 70, then 75 books on Goodreads] just keep reading and if you wish to complement it with another difficult but worthwhile activity learn to write as well as I am trying and failing to do. Practice makes perfect.
*And a very happy [Qaulity] Bargain Hunting for us all.
I just nabbed Christopher Hitchens 'God is not great' for 99p!!
