I have a confession to make: I bought a book! I went to a special event at my local library and it was a bit different to what it said it would be: there was a local author there trying to pedal his wares. He tugged on both my heart and purse strings and I felt as though I couldn't move away without one. He did give me one for free, though, as well!
In: 2 books. Please call me 'Pickle'

You have nothing to worry about Pickle, I've shattered all .... ack, I don't even know how to say how bad I've been.
This week I've bought FOUR books at Tesco (on the two for £8 offer) and just received my order today from The Book People that cost me £30. In my defence, had I paid full for TBP books it would have been well over £100 - and most of them were sets for my children.
I think I'm just going to come here and post how bad I've been so all of your (the royal 'your' not just Pickle!) occasional spends can be cancelled out if you utter the line, "I'm not as bad as Sessie"!!!

Thanks for making me feel less bad, but I can't afford to start thinking like that else I will go mad!
(But I'm not as bad as Sessie - phew! :rotfl:)Please call me 'Pickle'

I came home to a few books that were delivered today, all of them were giveaway wins though
Also found out I won another giveaway this morning, so that book is on it's way now as well, also being sent a free Kindle copy of the 10th book in a series that I love by the author
And have just found out that one of my book reviews will be printed inside the next instalment of that book series.
*happy dance* off to wonder back into my book world for the night!0 -
Last night I read Isolation (Witches of Santa Anna #10) by Lauren Barnholdt
back to Here Lies Bridget by Paige Harbison, don't know when I'll get this finished though not got a day off work till Tuesday now.0 -
Right, whilst I was on holiday I finished Snow Falling on Cedars which was recommended to me, hhhmmmmm I found it really slow and skip read parts of it as I was a bit bored. I have started Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, so far loving it.
And have just finished Hurting Distance by Sophie somebody and that was cracking, really enjoyed it, a good thriller kept me guessing.Just keep swimming!0 -
I'm reading a Sophie Hannah but oddly I can't remember the title - the one about a woman who looks at a house on a website and the virtual tour suddenly shows a dead body in the living room but next time it is gone.. is that the one Itsadogslife? Enjoying it so far - I didn't realise that some of her characters carried over from one book to another. I'm not too far in yet though.
I am sidetracked at the moment by a trilogy of QI books I got (part of my last shamefully large delivery from The Book People) as they are just SO interesting!! I'm a bit of a sucker for trivia, facts, quotes etc... but the Book of Ignorance is amazing me. So many things that I thought I knew are actually wrong. Things like the goldfish only having a 3 second memory (not true), who said "Let them eat cake" (no-one, it's made up from an entirely different quote), the origin of Ring a Ring of Roses (nothing to do with the plague).
There's also a book of quotes - some serious, some wry and witty which I'm dipping into.
Finally, reading carefully through The Pilates Bible so I can start doing a bit on a night, want to be sure I'm doing the moves right so I don't make my back worse - kind of the opposite of what I'm aiming for!!
It's my birthday on Friday so I'll make a deal with you all... I won't buy a book.. until then!!. Most people know a book token is the best pressie for me so hopefully there'll be one or two on the way.

Ooooh, I love the QI books - they really are a bit more than Quite Interesting!I even got the QI Book of Animals from the library and thought it was really interesting (and I'm not all that interested in creepy crawlies etc.). Enjoy!
:bdaycake: And happy birthday (a bit in advance)! :bdaycake:Please call me 'Pickle'

I finished Here Lies Bridget by Paige Harbison last night. Today I am onto Flawless by Laura Chapman0
-
I just finished 'The Cleansing' by Bill Rogers.
It was a little over-stuffed with detail, although the author's knowledge of the Manchester and the police procedures within it are astounding.
I'm not sure about the quality of writing, however.
I will be interested to read the next book he wrote. Please call me 'Pickle'
