Finished Revolver last night. I didn't think it was all great, its been getting raving reviews on Amazon. Yes it a book that made stop and think, but apart from that it was pretty much one scene dragged over 200 odd pages. And all the skipping through time annoyed me.

I now have 9 books i've requested from the library - i don't think anyone should have told me about the online catalogue, and inter library tranfsers yesterday!!

p.s - it's my birthday :) So i pretty much plan on doing nothing today, then out for dinner tonight

The B&&k people catalogue has dropped through my letterbox today  I really do not need any more temptation to buy books!!!

I went a bit mad last week and ordered quite a few books from Am$zo$. So add these to the books I have in my cupboard, the books on my bookshelf, the books I have by the side of my bed, not forgetting of course the books in my loft ! (boxes of them !!) and I somehow think I have enough books to mean that I don't need to buy another book for the next five years :rotfl: (at least !) oh and lets not even mention my subscription to audible thats been going for the last two years ? and all the books i have stacked up to listen to.....

I'm not including of course the books I have on hire at the library at the moment/plus the ones I have on reserve also. I'm very lucky in that I have two libraries at my disposal as I live on the border between two counties so benefit from two different libraries who both seem to have different stock !

Yet I still find myself flicking through the catalogue received today and wanting to buy x, y and z ! (some of those ten books for a tenner collections) but I really must stop buying more when I have so many to read and a sick bank account !!!

At the moment I am reading Lucky by Alice Sebold. Has anyone else read this ? I haven't read Lovely Bones but do have this somewhere in the house ? to read. Lucky is Alice's personal memoir of her brutal rape and beating when she was at college and just 18. It doesn't make for easy reading particularly the chapter about the rape itself.:( but it is proving to be a strangely gripping read. I am finding particularly interesting Alice's reflections on life - as she recounts stuff that happened when she was a child that takes on a different meaning as an adult.

I collected Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella and Manual of Detection by Jedediah Berry from the library today :o

I also have on my bookchair at the dining table Acts of Violence by Ryan David Jahn!!

hmmm too many books - not enough hands/eyes/time
  • Finished Sister today.

    WOW!!!!! loved it!

Oh great! I have that book in my pile!

Finished Miss Julia Speaks her Mind by Ann B Ross, quite enjoyable. It's the first in a series and I get the feeling the stories will get better as the books progress.
Started The Devil Rides Out by Paul O'Grady, so far ok, but not nearly as good as his first book. Very easy reading so should be finished today.;)

Am just having a clear out of the children's room and so have got to the rest of my unread books. They are:

Tony Parsons - My Favourite Wife
    Dean Koontz - Forever Odd
    Stephen King - Salems Lot
    Stephen King - Duma Key
    Stephen King - Lisey's Story
Philip Pullman - The Golden Compass books
Minette Walters - The Devil's Feather
    Kate Mosse - Labyrinth
    Daphne Du Maurier - Rebecca
Arthur Golden - Memoirs of a Geisha
Mums at Home - Sophie King
Louise Candlish - The Double Life of Anna Day
Isabel Wolff - A Question of Love
Carole Cadwalladr - The Family Tree
Oliver James - Affluenza (psychology of spending - very MSE!! non fiction obviously!)
Nicole Krauss - The History of Love
    Ben Elton - Blind Faith
James Naughtie - The Accidental American (non fiction)
    Tim Griggs - Redemption Blues
Douglas Kennedy - The State of the Union
Stephen Clarke - A Year In the Merde (non fiction)
Bill Bryson - Made in America (non fiction)
Greg Palast - The Best Democracy Money Can Buy (non fiction)
Bill Clinton - My Life (non fiction)
    Orham Pamuk - Snow
Douglas Adams - All the Hitchhikers books in one big book!

Surprised at quite how much non fiction and politics I found in there! I used to be quite a politics officionado until the children came along - nowadays I'm lucky to catch one full news programme a week!!

Anyhow, there were about ten others - some light reading, some crime stuff etc... which I'm going to take to work on Monday and put in the Book Club box so that's good right?

When am I going to find TIME to read all of these??? This really should tell me (incluidng my earlier post with all the other unreads) that I SHALL NOT BUY ANY MORE BOOKS!!!!

    er...

EVER!! by the looks of things!!
