Oh - I am told Buba RUNS around.....
As great as she looks Fit and Fat Sumo Wrestler English Bulldog Cross (LOL) - this weight is not healthy for her.
Just found out she was seen by some who specialises in overweight dogs (today) and given some drops to help with her exercise regime0 -
You're right, it's not a healthy weight for her as it will be putting strain on her hips, knees and ankles (doggy equivalent), also her major organs will be fatty. Good luck to her, at least she won't miss chocolate like we would !.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Now, back to Buba as I really prefer to keep this topic on her.....
Buba is going to see the vets next week for full health check and a dental assesement, hope all goes well
Maybe they really did not have space for him.

the problem is, there are at least 7000 dogs put down annually, as there are just more dogs than there are homes for..
Many of these dogs are of sound temprement and healthy - rescue organisations are under such strain that sadly some difficult decisions about which dogs to prioritise have to be made... when it comes down to a decision about which dogs to save from being put to sleep, the choice may be between using a kennel to house a dog that has been aggressive and will be hard to home, and may pose a risk in a future home, or whether to use that kennel to home a dog of sound temprement, that will be easier to rehome, and less of a risk. It is difficult, but I think in that sort of situation it is hard to justify why the dog that has been aggressive should be given the space, over the other dog. This does not mean that I am not very sorry about how things worked out for poor Bruno, (I know how hard you tried, you must be gutted) just that decisions have to be made sadly, in the context of the current situation.
In an ideal world, dogs like Bruno would be given the space, time and attention/training to minimise the risk they pose, and there would be experienced owners prepared to take him on - however, as long as rescues are struggling to find homes for multitudes of easier dogs, this can not be the case. I think over breeding and irresponsible pet owners are the real culprits here though, not the rescues.
I am really glad to hear about Buba and look forward to seeing photos of a new look, slim line Buba in the future!0 -
