I just did mine over the phone as wanted to query things, missed out on cashback and the 5% off no doubt :rotfl: though said I would get the multi pet discount which is roughly the same.

i asked about the injections as Im sure I had seen on other insurance sites that you couldnt get insurance unless the pet was upto date on vacs.

She said to me that if my cats got sick with something that would be prevented by vaccs (err not sure what they are, Feline aids?!) then they wouldnt pay out, but if i got mine their vaccs at any point and then they got sick id be covered for it.

Yeah, just a shame I didnt get the insurance a few weeks ago, would of saved myself some cash, lol.

A feather :rotfl: He likes those too! I bought him a feather stick thing from the vets last time we were there and he ripped all the feathers off in 1 go, he was growling and wouldn't let go off the stick, him and DD were locked in a tug of war!

    Buttons,
Deny him his 'congugul right's' for a few day's/weeks.Sue say's it worked with me:( & if she got frustrated, she had the rabbit!;)

I think I might go with argos for ours as well, I was gonna do asda but they wont cover if jabs arent up to date, and mine are just indoors for now, so ta for that!

My IRL friends indoor cat is in moggy hospital tonight as has eaten something it shouldnt, but whatever it was punctured the kitty's stomach and it doesnt look like she will pull through the night :( so sad. Both of you this week have really spurred me on to sort it for my two, I really thought they wouldnt need it being indoor cats!

  • Have been following this thread and so pleased Archie is on the mend :) As for your OH, words fail me :o

Just a note for those considering Argos pet insurance, the one Buttonmoons has just signed up to - the Platinum cover - is the only cover worth having. The silver and gold policies only cover for 12 months so if your pet develops any ongoing conditions they'll stop paying after 12 months.

That's why I signed up for the platinum, just incase they developed an ongoing condition. Didn't fancy being caught out, knowing my luck the little sods would get arthritus or something :rotfl:

OH, is just OH, now if Archie was a PS3, then he would be agreeing with me *insert rolling eye smiley that was removed for being too sarcastic too newbies*

I used to think myself that paying X amount on a cat was stupid, it's not until your in that position yourself that you realise how attached you REALLY are to the little furballs.

Archie has the vet at 1pm tomorrow, I'm just home from town so fingers crossed I'm not hungover at said appointment :rotfl: Probably not very rotfl actually.

he just had his creamy cheese pill and is now in my lap, he can come to bed with me tonight to keep me warm as OH is up at 5am to do overtime at work to pay for Archies bill, so I guess he cares.....about me and what I care about, at least!

Funny thing is, he wouldn't of even noticed if I didnt tell him how much it cost, I usually have his bank card as I deal with all teh bills and grocerys and he is none the wiser if £100 went out his bank each month.

Buttons....where does he get the beer money?:rotfl:

Good on Archie! I know what you mean about the vet's,when Orbit fell ill I was just laid off from work & was being told 'put him down,it's only a cat'...but it's not only 'a cat' he/she's a member of the family.
When your really really urined off,the cat coming onto your lap looking for some loving is great therapy,I buried my uncle Reg yesterday & got very very drunk last night but Daisy was there to take my mind off it.Pets are good stress busters!

My neighbour had his cat pts when she was being sick despite having insurance & the vet saying the tests were okI think he just want wanted to get rid of her,(I found out after she was pts.)

Oh, I just take money out the bank for him, plus he doesn't drink much! A beer now and then with his dinner. But he honestly wouldn't of noticed if I paid £100 a month to the vets, he is incapable of keeping track of stuff.

He thinks you just set up direct debits and you don't have to worry about it again, but what if they go early for the money before your pay etc is in, if I wasn't on the ball, Specsavers would still be ripping me off £20 a month!

Oh that is such a shame, your neighbour is a £$£$%£, especially since they had insurance!! Cats don't even cost much, some litter, some food, and plenty of huggles! Mine have toys all over the house, don't even know why I bother, because Clio just doesn't play, she acts like she is ancient when in fact she is 2, what she will play with is light from a torch or something though, and Archie prefers pen lids!

Just away to the vets now, hopefully the vet will say he can be cone less. He looks so depressed, bless him!

    Ah the cone stays, muhahaha!

He has to go back on Wednesday as the stitches DO need to be cut out, whoopsies! I was 20minutes late for our appointment because he wouldn't go in the cat carrier, until I de coned him and shoved him in :rotfl:

He must know he was going to the place that was scary and gave him ouchies as before he went to the vet, he used to go in the carrier for fun and to sleep in.

His tummy is healing nicely and the vet said it was fine to take his cone off during the day as long as im with him, but to put it back on if he is excessively licking round his tummy as don't wanna shoogle the stitches off.

He hates traffic! he was in his little box shivering in the corner, which made it a nightmare to carry as all his weight was down one side. Apparently he ISNT underweight, and you are supposed to be able to feel cats bones jutting through. Not sure about that myself, he was a fine weight before, and seems TOO slim now (though somehow still manages to have a saggy belly which isn't fat, it's just skin lol)

Guess to me he looks so skinny because the other cat is a bit of a blob (not much, just well padded :p)

Oh and I noticed, before his poo's used to utterly STINK, terribly so, but now he is on the hills I/D, they are small hard and scentless, completely scentless! Maybe just keep him on that then? His coat and the other cats coats have went really glossy.

My other cat has lovely thick short fur, where as Archie has longer thinner hairs but there is a noticeable improvement with these biccies, and my other cat hates biscuits normally but will eat those!

She has went off her wet food (but that maybe because I only have turkey flavour left and she hates it)

I wouldn't want them both JUST to be on dry though, but Archie isn't keen on wet, unless it's those little tins of gourmet gold.

I just need to find a wet food they both like. Or I could just give them the gourmet gold, but just 1 can each a day and the rest could be hills dry? I'll figure something out but I know the Whiskas/felix I give Clio (It's all she will eat, except the gourmet gold, Ive tried the posh brands) is crap.

cats have my brain working overdrive the wee sods !

Thanks everyone. I know *I* did the right thing, but he sees £600 on a cat I bought for £20. He's not the only one who's told me similar things.

He's just not got an emotional attachment to Archie. Of course he has no qualms about replacing a PS3 for £300.

He mentioned it to someone at work (I had called in him tears) and they were telling him to phone the vet and cancel the op  and then to tell me he had died during surgery. What is wrong with people?!!

My mum, who dislikes my cats incidentally (Just not keen on any animal) has been the most supportive about it, and she calls him the "skinny wild thing". Just shows she must like him, deep down :D

So does anyone know about insurance? Will Archie be exempt from any intestine related problems in the future now? He does seem to have a V bad habit of eating what he shouldn't. In fact, at the vets, he managed to jump off the table and go for a nosey in the bin :rotfl: His fave place, bless!
