Aww glad he seems better, did you take him back at all? Is there anywhere you could keep them separate so you can monitor the outgoings a bit better?Mummy to

Well I could lock him in my bedroom with a tray but that seems a bit mean because he is wandering round the house a bit more, he even managed to co-ordinate his cone head down the side of the fridge to sleep on the carrier bags I keep down there.
He's currently sleeping on my leg, just gave him another cream cheesy pill so he's happy! I'm plopping him on the litter tray every few hours, and I'm not going to bed until he at least does a pee! Maybe because he was sick a lot yesterday it dehydrated him again, he's had water today though.
He's still really sleepy and very quiet, he's been silently meowing at me, when he opens his mouth and his eyes go squinty but no sound comes out.
I'm tempted to take his cone off, the vet said I could but I'm just worried if he'll go for the stitches or not, must admit he stinks a bit, probably from the spew ingrained on the cone, plus lack of grooming. This must be why Clio is obsest with his butt stank, strong!!0 -
You could give him a wipe down with baby wipes.
You could feed him scrambled eggs - something vet told me to give mine years ago - just for a change from cheese I mean!
Hope he gets better soon xox0 -
Poor little love.
I am sure it would be ok to take his cone off for short supervised periods...so he can have a wash or eat his meal. Also a chance to clean the cone thing itself0 -
Awww wee Buttons hope he gets well soon sending lots of cat-like loveIf the world didn't suck we would all fall off0

Well he had a wee before I went to bed at 3am last night, a MASSIVE one, he's clearly being too lazy to go regularly. Still no poop, but the amount he ate yesterday I reckon he'll have one today.
His appetite is back but he is soooooo skinny, I can feel all his bones sticking out and when you look at him from above, he looks anorexic! So plenty of treats will be heading his way. Mind you, before he got sick he was underweight aswell, probably not by much but was very slender and he's quite a long cat, and he isn't even 1 yet. He'll still be growing!
Must admit, I do miss his nuttyness, usually he is bouncing all over the other cat, or stealing pen lids to drop into the water bowl and launch a full scale attack and soak himself and the floor in the process, or climbing my doors and leaving scratches all the way down.
I really think the postman misses him launching himself at the letterbox every morning :rotfl: Made me laugh that, as soon as he heard him outside the door, he'd get close, get into pounce mode and wait until letters started coming through, then he'd be jumping up and whacking them all. Bless him.
Yeah reckon I'll take his stinky cone off for a bit, when DD is at nursery that way he has my full attention. His belly scar is healing nicely though, and it must not hurt as much as he keeps rolling over for me to rub it. I'm not even touching the scar, but I kinda like tracing my finger over the smooth baldy bits!0 -
I took his cone off, he hasn't bitten at the stitches, just been giving himself a good clean! He does lick in the area of the stitches, but doesn't focus on that area in particular. Licking the stitches won't do any damage will it?
It's only if they start chewing and biting yes? I remember when my other cat got neutered, she knocked her cone off and started munching at the stitches, I almost puked, it was disgusting! she had a huge inflamed lump for about 2 weeks after that episode!
Think I'll keep his cone off as he has perked up loads since having it off and smells nice again, and put the cone on when I go to bed or leave the house so he isn't unsupervised. Does that sound okay?0 -
There wasa very upsetting post on here a few months gao about a cat that ripped open it's stitches with disastrous results....so I would err on the side of caution and keep it on for now, apart from closely supervised cleaning/eating time.
It is just not worth the risk. he is healing nicely after all and it wont be forever. When are the stitches coming out or next vet visit?
He has used up at least one life...he has to be patient now for a while!0 -
Yeah I remember that post and If I remember right a vet posted on here saying that it must of been left unsupervised for quite a while for it to do that much damage?
He's currently snoozing behind my bum right now, cone free. I think I will leave it off him for a while, as long as I'm in the room with him. If I'm going out, then I'll pop it back on and when I go to bed.
Well I guess Saturday as that's when I have to go back but I think they use disolveable stitches? Im sure my other cat didn't get her last ones cut out.
He smells like talcum powder0 -
When Missy was spayed, I took her cone off her when I was there to supervise - she was quite obsessed with her stitches mind so each time she went near them I ended up putting it back on - she managed to pull out one stitch without me realising the day before she was due to have them out! As long as he's not obsessing about his stitches I can't see the harm in him having the collar off whilst he is supervised.
Not sure about dissolvable stitches, Missy had to have hers cut out (with great difficulty).:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0
