  • triker sorry nothing much intelligent to add to the vacuum cleaner debate, we have a 7 year old dyson, its ok.

    wm on, fire lit, dw unloaded.

    Off to get lunch, been to market and got a new part for the water filter so we can use well water again.

    Sorry for the delay in reporting in, but all lists are done
    Took 2 of us, 3 1/2 hours each so 7 hours in total, a few extra's done as well which I won't bore you all with.
    All washing is done, but not all is dry yet.
    That that is dry is folded for ironing tomorrow
    Biker man gone to bike shop to look at new Honda bike that has just been released to the public.
    Cat is having a mad 5 mins

    Juliejim - how did you get on, this was my first HHC - now I get why you do them.I did the following

    DW emptied and refilled
    Wash up
    Cleared draining board
    Cleaned Hob
    Wiped worktops
    Got washing out and some into TD and rest on radiator
    Put in next lot of washing
    Got another load of washing ready
    Had a wee
    Put 28, yes 28 rolls of Xmas Wrap into Airing cupboard
    Fed birds
    Gave dog a biscuit

    WOW - I rocked lol

    Triker, I bought a Samsung 2000w bagless, not so long a go, and I think it is wonderful, even OH can manage to use it!!! I think I got it from Argos or Comet, as they were open!

    Just updating list

    Monday~ Living room/family room or other reception room!

    1. Wash any soft furnishings that are ickified
    2. wipe/wash/dust any ornaments
    Thursday ~ Bathroom, Study and Stairs!
    Level One
    Vacuum/mop all these floors
    Level Two
    Wash bath mats,
    Level Three
    Wipe paintwork up the stairs.. it always looks so much nicer cleaned and vacuumed!
    do relevant filing/shredding etc




    Extras
    1. HHI
    Friday ~ Childrens Rooms, Spare rooms Or just neglected spaces!
    Level One
    Declutter and vacuum the floor!
    Strip and wash and replace stinky bedding

    Level Two
    Sort through a cupboard of clothing
    Sort through a box of toys/junk
    Level Three
    Tidy/straighten a bookcase/shelf unit
    Wash any curtains/cushions etc that are in need
    Dust and deweb




    Extras
    1. Clean out pets.. make appointments for any vaccinations they need!!
    My extras which will stay on my list for about 7 weeks as they are big jobs for us/me to do;
    1. Make a start on the bedroom cupboards - this will be on here for some time as there are now down to 3 big cupboards and they are full of tat so its 1 cupboard a week
    2. Major declutter in the kitchen cupboards to make room for the stuff on top of the freezer and for the Wok which we can't buy until there is room to put it somewhere and that drives DH mad

  • I never last very long on here and always have big cleaning days on a saturday - today is no exception:-

    Monday~ Living room/family room or other reception room!
    Level One
    [STRIKE]Declutter and vacuum the floors!
    Clean out a sideboard/bookcase/other storage

    Level Two
    [[STRIKE]STRIKE]Vacuum under furniture you can safely move!
    [/STRIKE]
    Dust and deweb.. Make sure smoke alarms are still in good order
    Clean the sofas.. vacuum under/between/backs cushions.. turn them over for even wear if possible.

    Level Three
    [STRIKE]Sort out magazine racks/piles of newspapers etc.. can any be recycled?
    [/STRIKE]
    Clear and wipe window sill.. do not put back the clutter!

    1. Finish/do a small DIY job

    3. Catch up on phonecalls.. to friends, family or nagging ones you have been naughtily putting off!!
    4. wipe/wash/dust any ornaments
    Tuesday ~ Kitchen and Dining Mess
    Level One
    [STRIKE]Sweep, vacuum and mop floors
    [/STRIKE]
    Declutter and wipe worksurfaces
    Shine that stinky sink
    Level Two
    Wipe table replacing cloth if necessary.. I want to see pretty tables piles of mail and pens and goodness knows what else has to go!
    Clear out a cupboard.. The one with baking supplies or the one with pans and plastic boxes.. GO!! Or you could, if you have one, clear the pantry!
    Wipe and replace small appliances.. Clean one thoroughly!
    Level Three
    Wipe units and large appliances.. don't forget kickboards!
    Wipe the insides of all the cupboard doors!
    Organise any cookery books.. Dusted, destickified and placed back tidily!
    Dejunk window sills

    Extras
    1. Wash/replace any scanky dishclothes/sponges etc
    2. Throw out those bacteria breeding chipped mugs and plates etc
    3. Sort out and restock medicine cupboards (I threw out loads from mine today :D)
    4. Wash the brushes, mops, dustpans etc.. how gross do these get?
    Wednesday ~ Master Bedroom & Landing
    Level 1
    Check smoke alarms are working
    Remove bed linen and replace with fresh linen
    Declutter the floordrobe
    Level 2
    Dust surfaces & make sure no cobwebs.. make sure to do the bed base.. mine was gross
    Vacuum mattress before replacing fresh linen
    15 minutes grotspot clearance
    Level 3
    Vacuum floors in bedroom and on landing
    Sort one area of clothes or linen storage making sure only what should be in there is, anything that's had it's day or doesn't belong there is removed
    Defluff and demuck woodwork... skirtings, window frames, door frames dados, picture rails etc

    Extras
    1. 27 fling boogie time, time for that midweek fling, go grab a bag and clear that clutter
    2. Air the duvet.. fling it over the line for half an hour if you can.. fly away bugs!
    3. Clean windows in these rooms
    4. Binbag dance to go to charity shop! Or just general rehoming!

    2. Catch up relevant phonecalls
    3. Do a mini-job you have been putting off forever.. an email or letter or whatever!
    4. Make a start on a craft project you've been wanting to do for ages!

    Hoovered stairs, hall, landing, bedrooms and settee.
    Cleaned paintwork on stairs
    Stripped DS's bed and loaded WM
    Put washing on rads

    I think that's about it.

    Oven, hob, cooker hood and microwave are clean. But I'm still working my way through the dirt (it's amazing how much more dirt an extra two people in the house make :eek:. It's going to take me at least the rest of today to deal with this... hopefully I'll get the majority of it done, as I don't have the time to spend on it tomorrow.

    Patio is completely dug up, and there is a vast pile of paving slabs & concrete on the old garage base which I need to get rid of...
