Just wondering how people count calories with batch cooked things/things you haven't weighed things out for/slow cooked dishes. I mean, you might know that 100g of carrots and 100g of beans went into your slow cooker, but when you deal yourself a portion do you weigh it out so that you can do some calculations? Even then it's not ideal as you might have more of one thing than the other! Or am I being too fussy and should I just estimate? :P

    Thanks for any ideas!

Well done Vixtress! You are an inspiration with the exercise... wow!

Mean Marie, that oriental meal is making me drool on a Sunday morning...:o

Sharloid, I would just work out the calories per pertion by working out a quarter/eighth/whatever of the whole batch :)

These past two days, I been bad... :(

    FRIDAY
B: 1 slice Nimble granary with scraping vitalite + tea with splash of oat milk
L: Iceberg, watercress, 1 peppadew pepper, 1/2 avocado, + dressing made from 1 tsp ketchup, 3 tsp reduced calorie salad cream + water to thin it out.
T: 3 slices white bread with a scraping of vitalite each, 1 veggie finger + about 8 hm oven chips
D: a small bowl of veggies stir fried in about 1/2 tbsp rapeseed oil.

200 sit ups and quite a bit of housework + 20 mins playing with DD in garden

    SATURDAY
    B: Nothing!!! naughty me
L: 2 slices hm garlic bread, 2 slices hm pizza, salad, handful tortilla chips and salsa
D: Stir fried veggies in rapeseed oil with 1/2 packet chilli rice noodles and soy sauce

Forgot sit ups. About 1 hour walk.

    SUNDAY
B: 1 slice of white bread with scrape of vitalite and marmalade
D: Will be small slice of butterbean, mushroom and stuffing tart and veggies.
T: Probably avocado salad with marie rose dressing as Friday.

200 sit ups and plan on walking in about half an hour, then lots of housework this afternoon. Then the weigh-in!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Afternoon all.

I did a quick weight check before going out yesterday and found I've lost 1.5kg (3 and a bit pounds) this week. Given I didn't eat very healthily last weekend, I'm quite pleased with that. :)

vixtress - well done to you - your signature's very inspiring. :T

Yesterday was a bit of a funny day as I was out all day and had to get what I could - I had:

B - jam sandwich and an apple
    L - nothing
D - chorizo, king prawn and spinach risotto and a mini garlic bread baguette; three pints cider (:o. Nice, though! ;))

    Today I've had:

B/L - cheese and salami toastie
S - pack of dried fruit and nuts
D - roast beef, roast carrots, lettuce and potato salad, chunk of HM cheese and tomato flatbread; stewed pear and HG blackcurrants

My meals tend to be a bit odd at weekends, but this weekend is odder than normal. Must go back to normal meals tomorrow!
Back after a very long break!

    Hi Sharloid,
I do this alot so can tell you how I do things so it might help :)

I batch cook all the time but have only weighed things for each recipe on one occasion then I added it to my account on The Daily Plate to keep track of it.

I weigh what is going into the whole recipe then work out the total calories then divide by the number of portions. Even if we are eating some for one meal and freezing some, it all gets portioned at the same time as I'm dishing out dinner so I'm sure they are all a similar size.

I dont count calories in things like carrots, cauli, cabbage, green beans but I do in corn, peas and potatoes and fruit so you can have a little leeway as long as you're sensible

The key to it is not to get too obsessed with it, estimation is fine provided its with the things like veg and beans and not with the stuff thats more calorie dense like butter, cheese, oil, pasta, spuds and rice.

Doing things this way has worked really well for me (2 and 1/2 stone gone), I still have the odd day off but I make sure it is just that, ONE DAY.

The weekend was a wipeout day for me as I went to a friends birthday so although I didnt eat a massive amount, it wasn't very healthy and I drank far too much :rotfl:

    Sat:

    B: 2 wholemeal toast

L: Egg sandwich, packet of skips

D: Small bowl nachos and 1 small slice thin crust pizza

S: Not really a snack but 2/3 of a bottle of Smirnoff escaped into my throat and I got home at 4.30am

    Sun:

    B: Bacon sandwich :D

L/D: BBQ so I had 2 sausages in small rolls, pasta salad, small spoon of coleslaw, salad and some crisps

S: Another roll with a cheese slice in it

    Mon:

    B: 2 wholemeal toast

L: Mozarella ciabatta with pesto and vine tomatoes

    D: Wholemeal spaghetti zucchini

    S: Probably nothing else

Have a fab week all :D

fish with pots, carrots, peas and a creamy (ish) sauce & a muller light
hm tandoori fish (loads) with salad and 1 pitta bread for dinner.

    today have had/having
50g cereal with semi skimmed, a big handful of fresh cherries.

1 pitta, salad and some tomato, lentil bol sauce. apple

dinner will be spicy bean and veg fahita/wrap with a bit of 1/2 fat cheese & a square of dark choc.

tell me honestly what you think, thats not that bad is it?? i posted the weekend's menus earlier. not great, but ive had worse :rotfl:

hope you are all doing better than me.
