Well yesterday was fine until I started experimenting out of my new cookery book. (Mexican book by Thomasina Miers). Very yummy though!

Today was slightly disastrous diet-wise as we went to the Real Food fair in London. So many gorgeous calorific freebies..... However did limit the damage a bit by going on a 4-mile (slow) run.

    Anyway my food today:

    B: 2sl toast and butter + cornflakes
L: Bought Sausage ciabatta (very yummy)
    D: kedgeree, butter bean salad
Snacks: Any freebie I could lay my hands on! Lots of chocs 'n wine:-)

Best of luck to all for this week!
Sorry to hear you had bad news Keiss21. Hope you're OK.

Well having been made redundant I've applied for over 30 jobs in the last two months and other than a few interviews, not much is happening.

So I'm at home too much and every time I go to the job center I get more depressed and buy chocolate and cake :o I wish I was one of those people who stop eating when they get stressed :sigh:

I have an interview this week and my clothes are getting seriously limited by the ongoing increase in my thighs/bum/hips. And I have very little money to even buy my usual charity shop clothes. So I must try and get a grip (had a serious chocolate binge this weekend). I also must get back into walking/exercising as I'm getting lazy, and completely demotivated. My good intentions only seem to last a day or two and then go to pot along with my moods :o

So if I disappear from here, I may need a few kicks up the behind via pm ;)

The interview next week, if all goes well, is within 40 minute walk from home up a big hill then down a big hill so if we do get a dry summer I shall have no excuses!

Newlywed best of luck in the interview. I really feel for you, it's no joke being unemployed and it can be hard to stop the worry eating at you (making you eat more, I'm the same). My OH is being made redundant for the 3rd time in 12 years and I've been made redundant 3 times over the same period. OH's team is being moved to the Far East which means he's been working overtime for the month to transfer his job to someone else! So doesn't have time to look for another job. Hopefully his company may find him something internally as they would like to keep him on but there's not much available.
We've been lucky so far with finding jobs after redundancy and not getting into any debt but you never know, the luck could run out this time!
Anyway, sorry for rambling! I meant to just say use the time to do more exercise and get outside as much as possible. Interviewers say they always know people who have been 'energetic' and not just stayed moping around the house while being off work. They seem more confident and less beaten down. Gives you happy hormones too and means you can have your chocolate without the guilt:D

Caterina....was watching pecorino being made somewhere in the Barbaggia to-night on a Rick Stein show....looking forward to having some in a few weeks. I do remember your binge last year, not surprised you have given up! Will have a think about nice healthy vegan recipes for you for when you visit(?)....am so good at giving advice but not able to do it myself:

    Today I have eaten:
    Tuna salad sandwich, glass orange juice;
    Dry fried mackerel, roast carrots, mushroom and fennel, chips and huge mixed salad, piece of rhubarb sponge with extra rhubarb;
Snack with DD4....piece of cake, small twix and green tea.

Ok today will be tough. Workmen working on the block of flats have already decapitated my flowers  the note through the door says "minimal disruption" Grrr. They've only been here half an hour and there's meant to be a week's worth of work.

Thanks for the encouragement babymother. It's the first time in my life I've ever not had a job - so not dealing too well emotionally - been very up and down.

    Anyway food so far:

    b. Bowl of sainsburys just right cereal - think its called precise or something - with oat milk and a cuppa.

l: not sure yet.... might do pitta with rice and leftover bits chopped and added.

d: Smoked haddock (steamed) with green beans and whatever veg is lurking :p

    Snacks - a banana

Have just shampooed half the front room carpet and the main walkways in the bedrooms. Off to do some flylady.....

Have a good day everyone :D

  • Hi guys a Newbie here.
I am keen to lose some weight, whilst not spending the pounds on a "paid" diet site.
So I thought I would join here.
Will go to friends to weigh in tommorrow as I do not have scales.
We have been doing this for a couple of weeks so will post up results.
I am trying to cut out sugar, reduce carbs, eat proper food, and not leave it too long betwen meals.
so have 3 meals and 2 snacks.
    better have a snack.
Look foward to being healthier and lighter.
    Have 5 stones to shift.
It took years to put on so I expect to be here for the long haul
    kind regards Candlepower.

    afternoon all!

newlywed - good luck with the interview x

candlepower - welcome to the thread, your plan sounds very sensible to me - 3 regular meals, snacks and no high expectations of immediate weight loss:T a lot of people expect to lose it all in weeks and it's not going to happen as you said its a long term thing.

    plans for today

B - boiled egg and toast

L - tinned salmon(left over) salad and 2 sweet onion ryvita with low fat cheese and pickle(the ryvita were yummy - a new flavour)

D - basa fillet in lemon tempura batter with peas and a few rustic chips

I'll also have some fruit and a yoghurt.

I read in a magazine that eating a few whole almonds is a good snack as they contain things that fill you up longer and the brown bit (skin) is good fibre so I'm trying that. They are also good source of protein and as a non meat eater that will be useful to me.

caterina - I'm like you - no meat and just a little fish once several times a week although I do eat dairy.

have a great day all x
    Do what you love :happyhear

    Hi all,

Welcome candlepower hope you will find the support you need here, we're a friendly bunch :D

Today has been pretty good for me as I've been to busy to stop and snack!

B: 2 wholemeal toast with cream cheese

L: HM asparagus and mushroom pilaf

D: HM chicken zorba with wholemeal pitta, HM mint, lime and tomato salsa, chilli sauce and a little brown rice

S: Small skinny latte, apple and pear

Hope I can carry on like this. I ordered a pair of trousers from the US and they have arrived but I dont know whether to try them on or not when I get home as I suspect they might be too tight. If they are, it could spur me on or send me spiralling, will have a look at them when I get in and decide :o

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Afternoon all.

I've experienced a massive weight loss this afternoon. I went to my GP and she checked my weight on her scales, which indicated I weigh 7kg (15.5lb) less than my scales say. smiley-shocked004.gif I a) feel rather pleased and b) obviously need to get some new scales! :rotfl:

I'm going to try and stick with the diet for a couple more weeks, though, on the basis that it can't hurt, particularly as I've been rather naughty over the weekend.

    Today I've had:

Breakfast - one and a half slices of HM granary bread with butter and peanut butter (:o); two weeny apples
Lunch - low fat cream cheese, salami and tomato sandwich (my current favourite)
Snack - handful of spicy crackery things; glass of tropical fruit juice
Dinner - pizza with 'Greek style' side salad (with feta and black olives and a lemon dressing apparently - I was hyper-lazy and bought one :o); stewed pears and fat free plain yoghurt
    **************************
candlepower - welcome to the thread.

newlywed - you must be  about your flowers. Will they pay compensation for the damage, or is that a silly question? :(

Back after a very long break!

today i started my summer job and summer diet!
i'm 19, 5'2, 8st11 and a size 8 but i've lost all my muscle tone and put on a few lbs this year so want to be 8st by august. first little goal is 4lbs by the end of may and up the repetitions in my little workout.
i'm trying not to spend a penny, so i've been using a 2ltr bottle of water as a 4.4lb weight until now(there are weights at home i can use now!) and doing 20 minutes a day of strength training exercises.

don't think i ate enough today. i've had 950 calories plus a big glass of wine, haven't wanted to eat anything because i'm missing my boyfriend so much!
i was doing laundry at 5am before work and cleaning all evening so didn't even do my exercise today :(
Living cheap in central London :rotfl:
