    Welcome Ebayqueen, Fingersxed and Pennygrabber.

Molly41, hope your family plan on bringing you back lots of presents from that trip! Try not to comfort eat while they are gone, I know it will be hard but you will be very proud of yourself for not doing it which will make you happier rather than feeling guilty which will make you sad xx

Sneaked on the scales this morning and it's looking like the weight gain of the last few weeks is shifting so I hope to have it all gone by Friday!

  • Hello everyone, and well done to those persevering :)

Ragz-Sorry I did not weigh in on Friday. I am constantly putting on and losing the same pound, could you take me off the challenge next time you update, as I need to get my moods up to progress from here. Thanks for running it, and lots of luck to those still on it :T.

I mentioned the food hospital programme last week regarding foods that may help fend off low moods. Playing it back, I will be trying to eat more serotonin boosting foods such as brown rice, chicken, eggs, cheese and oily fish. I will also be having carbs with serotonin boosting foods which was also mentioned to help. Also more zinc rich whole foods. Looking up zinc rich foods, apparantly sesame and pumpkin seeds, low fat beef, dark chocolate/cocoa powder, lamb/mutton, peanuts are amongst them. I am battling with low moods, hence lack of progress with my weight loss aims, so will give the above ideas a go.

I am staying with the thread, just need to regain focus. Good luck this week everyone!
Healthy eating aim per day: 3 fruits, 3 or more vegetables, 3 low-fat dairy portions, 3 starch portions, 2-3 lean protein portions.
Weekly aim: to include 2 portions of fish (one oily), some nuts, seeds, beans and pulses.

Lovetopaint - NO. Sorry, not letting you off that easy. You can lose that pound and more by Christmas, trust me, you can do it!
Giving up on the challenge won't help your mood as much as trying hard and reaping
the benefits. We all have down times when we really don't feel up to trying but I feel it my duty to drag you all back from them ;)
Think of a few little rewards you can give yourself for making good effort, maybe little pampering sessions at home or buying a little (non food) treat, if you can afford it. Motivation is easier when it's rewarded :)

Hi old style slimmers, I need advice please. OH is diabetic and got all excited by todays news that it can be reversed by doing 4 months on a very low cal diet- ie 500 cals day
Is this even remotely possible?? I think not but I dont know anything about calories.

I have heard about this. I think it involves losing fat cells around the pancreas. I don't know any more than that though [and in any case giving medical advice is not allowed on this forum]. I would suggest a)seeking proper medical advice and b) thoroughly researching it 1st, as I think it could potentially be dangerous. Good luck!

No - not asking anything medical here :) just if that amount of cals are even possible at all.

    Hi Mardywotsit!!!,
I definitely remember reading something similar about reversal of type 2 ( I think) diabetes but it was in relation to low carbs. Haven't read this new thing about low cals - but it seems very low indeed.
If I find the link to the article I'll post it.
