Afternoon all, Had lovely ricotta dumplings for dinnner last nigh but will have to adjust the tomato sauce, far to much oil in it plus we had runner beans (home caught!) dressed with lemon juice, olive oil and parmesan. All very yummy but not so healthy.
A Jamie 30 min meal tonight, smoked salmon, potato salad and beetroot salad, its not bad calorie wise I think if you watch the oil/dressings and don't get over generous on the smoked salmon (great use for special offer salmon) and left overs will make a lovely sandwich.
Ragz, I am glad this happens to other people too, I found I had to try lots of different breakfast items before I found something that lasted through to lunch and didn't break the calorie bank. I settled on 2 x Shredded Wheat with SS milk, Actimel drink or 2 tbs plain yogurt, mug of tea. Real coffee has me reaching for a biscuit in half an hour!"doing the best you enjoy, not the best you can tolerate, is truly the best you can do sustainably."0 -
My day has been very mixed!
b - half a portion of porridge (135.5 cals), 2 slices of wholemeal toast with scraping of marg (200 cals) - 335.5 cals
l - feta cheese salad (143 cals), 5 custard creams (350 cals) - 493 cals
s - 2 jaffa cakes - 84 cals
d - chicken with roast veg (239.27 cals) 1 waffle (105 cals), 2 scotch pancakes with smidge of golden syrup (206 cals) - 550.27
Exercise: -250 cals on exercise bike
Overall total: 1212.77 calories.

Sincere condolences from me too financially-gaga. It's 32 years since I lost my dad and sometimes it just feels like yesterday, my memories of him are so strong. Feel so sad for you."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

My thoughts are with you financially_gaga, I appreciate how hard it is but you haven't lost your dad, he's just gone ahead into the next room..
Weigh-day today, not the best as I've put on a lb. I have to make an effort to exercise more.
B - 2 slices wm bread with marmalade
L - small portion beef casserole
D - small portion beef casserole
Snacks - 2 slices bread & peanut butter, small bowl dry F&F to pick at, nectarine, melon, banana
?Exercise - sitting in a chair at the nail salon for an hour this morning, then a quick dash across to the hairdressers to sit there for 2 hours. It's really not good enough!0 -

I'm trying to lose weight and looking for every weight loss thread on this site that may help me. If I'm at home I cook tea every night and tonight it was fish and parsley sauce (I did mine without the sauce to cut the calories). I hope I can stick to eating healthier for once!Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.0 -

Financially_Gaga - Im so sorry to read about the loss of your father. Be kind to yourself and also eat kindly too, so eat foods that are going to help you to heal and recover from the shock and stress. I wouldn't be too quick to go on a strict diet as you need to be in the right place emotionally x
I am see/sawing with this wretched pound and now by the feel of it (hot flushes) the wicked witch is due again soon :eek::eek: I am being thwarted at every turn at the moment. Of course it didn't help that it was the Kid's Dad birthday yesterday and we went out to lunch to a pub that serves the most yummy food going. Never mind I am on the straight and narrow as of today!!!I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all and welcome to our little group Willow. You'll gather lots of hints, tips and encouragement on here (and sympathy too when the weight loss doesn't happen when you expect it to!) I didn't stick religiously to plan yesterday - still shopping around at lunchtime for the wretched microwave and so hungry I succumbed to a large Picnic bar (not had one for years and forgotten just how good they are!)
Today's menu:
B - Porridge and raspberries
L - LF cauli cheese with diced crispy bacon on top. Strawberries & FF vanilla yogurt.
D - Smoked haddock, salad & new potatoes. SF jelly, raspberries & WW fromage frais.
S - Satsumas and grapes (and no large Picnic bars!!)
Just awaiting the arrival of the 3 DGDs (the eldest will be to take to school) so chasing round after the 2 younger ones will be my exercise for the day I'm afraid! Have a good day all."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
TA - why oh why did you mention PICNIC bars? I have been fine with no chocolate (except one tiny milky way) for over a week, but now you have reminded me how yummy picnic bars are!
another hour at the pool last night meant I was under my calorie allowance yesterday despite a dinner of Lasagne, chips, peas and garlic bread (1000+ calories!). I find I can keep up swimming for a lot longer than running so I end up burning more calories even though I don't feel like a panting beetroot.
Will be making chicken soup for dinner today (with dumplings!) but first I'm off to treat myself to some new bras as I only have 1 normal (too big) 1 strapless (too tight) and a sports bra (fine for sport). No idea what size I am so will be trial and error...
Breakfast was a Nature Valley bar and one slice of toast (no butter) with marmite and cheese spread (low fat) and two cups of tea (total about 330cal)June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Morning all.
Willow - welcome to the thread! :hello:
financially_gaga - I'm so sorry about the loss of your dad - the hugest of hugs to you.
My day today is going to be pretty poor, sadly - I'm running the second of my twice-yearly work training sessions and exhausation invariably gets the better of my eating plan, so I've decided not to even plan anything healthy for once!
B - bowl of hot wallpaper paste (aka instant porridge - I'm not buying that brand again _pale_) with sliced banana and a drizzle of maple syrup to try and make it slightly more edible
S - banana (thanks to a colleague - otherwise it would have been biscuits)
L - stuff from the buffet - mostly mayonnaise-y sandwiches and deep-fried snacks, if previous years are any indication- plus whatever fruit is provided
D - probably a deeply unhealthy supermarket pizza and a couple of glasses of wine.Hey ho, it's only twice a year!
Hope everyone else has a healthier day than I'm going to!Back after a very long break!0
