  • Morning all. Well I was determined to stick to plan yesterday (because I had STS and was determined to do better) but fell off the wagon big style when I popped into Ilkley Co-op. They were doing Fair trade dark chocolate with orange oil on BOGOF and before I knew it I had 2 bars in my hand. I found a seat in the sun and savoured both bars one after the other. Oooh they tasted so good after being deprived of chocolate for so long! This morning I feel so cross with myself, why on earth did I buy them?!

Oh well, today is another day, so shall try to be really good to compensate:

    B - Porridge with raspberries
L - Chicken with big salad and a few new potatoes. Strawberries & small sliced banana with FF yogurt
D - Small bowl LF cheesy pasta with more salad. SF jelly, mixed berries & FF yogurt (just discovered Onken Vanilla and getting addicted!!)
    S - Grapes, nectarine & melon

    Have a good day everybody.

Finally managed to get online (DH isn't up yet!)

Ermm, where to start... I think I've failed ALL my missions for July, but I have done it in style!

This week I are been mostly eating... cake, ice cream, pizza, chips, crisps, red wine, takeaways...
    and I've lost a pound. Sorry ;)

Chinese buffet this evening, will aim for a SMALL taste of things and no rice or noodles. If they do stir-fried stuff I'll have that. I WILL not touch the chocolate fountain (ha, yeah right!)

Off to catch up on the thread now.
Newlywed Wow! Well done on the stone loss, that's great!

Had ice cream at 7am. DS1 woke up upset so I plied him with ice cream. Breakfast will be ryevita with cream cheese (LF) and I will try to eat as little as possible until our meal out tonight.

I really struggle with lunches, I forget to meal plan or shop for lunches as everyone else has a packed lunch and it's only me and DD home for lunch. Off to read what everyone else has and get ideas...

Still not smoking by the way!

Weights - I have decided to aim for 11 stone, my friend who is the same height as me has lost 2 stone since spring and is now just under 11 stone, she looks fab and as she's the only person I know who's that height I now know what to aim for! When I hear people moaning about being 9 stone something it sounds crazy until I realise they are probably half a foot shorter than me! Just out of interest if anyone wants to post their heights along with weights that would be quite useful for the rest of us. I know build has a lot to do with it too but for a rough idea... if you also know your BMI... mine's 24.55

  • Good idea ragz - at 9st 6.5lbs I probably sound ultraslim to anyone tall. Alas, I am only 5ft 1in, so at my highest weight (10st 8lbs) I looked like one of those little kelly toys you find in budgie cages!!! Prior to stopping smoking (now 3 years and 3 months!!!) I hovered around the 9st mark, so that it what I am aiming for (but less would be better!). I can't blame big build either as I only take a size 3 shoe and have small hands too! It's been an uphill slog but I am getting there S-L-O-W-L-Y!!!

    Afternoon all.

I had a really bad day yesterday - I just felt permanently hungry and ate far too much. :o I did do quite a lot of walking to and around the shops, though, which I hope counted for something.

I'm determined to do better today but it hasn't started well:

Brunch - bacon sandwich on buttered spelt bread :o
Snack - LF natural yoghurt with sliced banana
Dinner - cheese and onion pastry-less quiche with salad and another piece of spelt bread, with no butter this time ;)

Exercise - a bit of gardening later, then a walk up to the pub for the quiz and my usual couple of pints of cider.

I'm 5 foot 5, BTW, and currently 13.4 stone, which puts my BMI at a figure I'm not going to post! :o I've lost 1.2 stone since joining this thread, so I'm moving in the right direction, at least. :j

    Have a good day, all.
Back after a very long break!

Does anyone else struggle with eating breakfast? I just think of it as a waste of calories... i know know it's not at all and its the most important meal of the day but If i don't eat i don't get hungry, and therefore eat less.

    Make sense?

It sort of makes sense because the 'feeling hungry' mechanism switches off overnight when the bodyis in a 'fast' and the metabolism slows down. It will not speed up until it gets some decent food.

If you want to be slim, fit and healthy you need optimal levels of nutrients cutting out one meal a day means less chance of getting all the nutrients you need.

If you plan to eat a good nutritious breakfast (because you're worth it) rather than grab a bit of toast or coffee on the run will make you feel better, less stressed and more in control. You won't waste calories if they are planned. You waste calories on saving them for cake, snacks and booze.

    B. Egg on toast
    L Bacon roll, salad
    T. Bowl F & F
    Snacks. Slice pineapple, pear, satsuma

bramble I eat breakfast because I have time, being retired, and have to eat before taking meds. It's also a good excuse to sit and read the news on line before starting the day :)
  • baaaad day - 10 item full english breakfast from bhs (had friend from uni staying so we went out for brunch), then more bacon in the form of a bacon sandwich for tea..... hoping for a better day tomorrow, but am out for lunch with colleague who is losing her job at end of school year so it will be difficult not to give into temptation of something fattening....
