  • Thanks to everyone on here, I made soup for lunch.

B: Porridge, made with water, and jam.
L: Chicken and winter veg soup, 1 rice cake, banana
T: (Spanish style) chicken tortilla, home-made potato wedges, tomatoes, small slice of low-fat banana cake.

    The soup was

1 litre chicken stock, fat scraped off
cubed swede, potato, carrot and pak choi
    3 cloves garlic
    1 tsp salt
    1 handful of red lentils.

The banana cake is an old Rosemary Conley recipe

1 lb bananas, peeled and mashed
    6 oz sugar
    2 eggs
    8 oz flour

I adapt it by using brown sugar and then adding ginger and sultanas, or cocoa powder and chocolate icing (made with Green and Black's cocoa powder and icing sugar so hardly any fat)

All your food sounds scrummy but I am especially taken with the banana cake. I love the idea of adding sulatanas and ginger. Is it self raising flour used? And how much ginger/sultanas would you use? And I wouldn't mind the method if it's not too much trouble!

Rach - I have bookmarked that FoodFocus site, thanks for recommending it. I'm also looking at other similar sites including SparkPeople, MyFitnessPal and Fitday. I think they're all free but a bit American.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)

Thanks everyone for the advice and links. I make Monday my weigh in day as it means I'm less likely to 'treat' myself on the weekend.;)
I'm also trying to stick to healthy eating which we do usually, but smaller portions... I even use a smaller plate! Then get up and do something instead of thinking about it. I once read that the best exercise you can do is pushing your chair away from the table:rotfl:
I find that a small portion of something I fancy works for me, rather than thinking about it as 'forbidden' then going on a binge when my (very weak) willpower breaks down.:) As others have said trying to work two different menus is too much hassle and I don't stick to it.

Ps Imataloss... if it's any help I haven't been sticking to my walks either but I'm thinking even if I'm shopping at least I'm moving! Made myself go for a quick walk 25mins last night as I felt so guilty and felt much better for it. Good luck, I'm thinking of you!

Eenymeeny - thanks. Good luck with your walking. Got myself to the gym this morning and managed the following:
    15 mins cycling
    10 mins rowing
    20 mins walking
    Felt much better afterwards.

Foodwise yesterday was ok for most of the day and then opened a bag of cashews that were still hanging around after Christmas.
Went down well with a bottle of lager :)
Weigh in this morning and am the same as last week. So have started logging calories.
Heres hoping for a small loss next week.

To everyone else thank you for your tips/inspiration.
