I'm pleased I've found this thread here
Since the New Year I have been digging out my slimming world book and trying to work with that. Ideally in principle it should be fine as you can eat meat and veg but when it comes to producing wholesome family meals it doesn't work. Last night for example a nice shepherds pie. Milk and butter in the mash, cheese on top and a little olive oil for frying and softening the onions and carrots. It took me over. I'm losing hope.
I weighted this morning and i'm at 12 stone 8lbs. HM celeriac soup and HM flatbread for tonights tea. I think for me it's going to be family meals and drop down on the portion sizes.
Home cooking is what I'm doing to make ends meet. I can't be following slimming classes that require seperate meals running along side.weight loss so far: 6lbs

Ok, today I feel a bit low, but everyone at work has coughs/colds/flu/plague so I think I'm fighting off all the germs, but the challenge for me today is not to dive for sweet fixes to my energy.
Bfast - egg, beans, wholmeal toast, cup of tea (almost unheard of but thought maybe a good solid breakfast might help kill mid morning snack)
Lunch - jacket pot with coleslaw and a little cheese
Tea - quorn and mushroom curry with brown and red rice
Snack - two oat biscuits

Hi Everyone - good to see so many people posting on here.
I didn`t do too well with my Monday weigh in. Was the same as last week.
Think I`m going back to weigh in on Thursday. It`s a psycological thing if I weigh on a Thursday, I seem to eat better over the weekend and get a loss the following week.
Does anyone else do this?
Still not managing to get to the gym very often. Still have a cough that`s been lingering for about 6 weeks now.
Must get into my lunchtime walks - it`s just not been happening over the past week.
I may get more exercise though by default. I take DGS to nursery 3 days a week and normally drive there. I then drop DD at work before coming home and starting work. (I work from home). Then use on the other 2 mornings for a pre work visit to the gym. DH will need the car to get to work soon (he normally uses company van). We have to decide whether to buy a 2nd car but have worked out this will cost us another £2500 per year running costs. Really don`t think this is realistic just to take my DGS to nursery and DD to work 3 mornings a week. DH is home early enough to pick him up. Only use it otherwise to get to local shops (within 20 mins walk) and for convience in getting to appointments which can be done when DH gets home.
If I walk to DD`s and then to nursery it will take me approx 30 mins. Then a 20 minute walk back home. DD can then go to work on the bus.
Morning gym visits will need to end but DH has suggested going with me after work.
Food wise - back to counting calories today.
Breakfast - porridge
Lunch - Not decided but have turkey leftovers in fridge (from Sunday) so may have some of that.
Dinner - Stew
Snacks - Fruit
Keep going everyone.0 -
Ugh well I've had a rubbish few months so New Year resolutions and all that....
I've found a fab resource (free) called foodfocus where you log what you eat and exercise adn it calculates calories in and out - finding it quite useful.
have also starting a couch to 10k runnign programme - only done 2 runs but so far so good!
Aiming for 1200cals on days with no exercise and a bit more on days I do! Mainly going for portion control and cutting the junky snacks
B - porridge with whole milk and water, tsp brown sugar
S - pear
Lucnh - HM tom soup, half a hm roll and slice of cheese
S - nothing as saving myself for a glass of wine tonight!
D - sloppy joes with lots of 'hidden veg', in half a roll with a small handful of tortilla chips and a splodge of sour cream
Starting weight at NY was 10s 11lb, this mon was 10s 9, aiming for 2lbs a week loss to get to 9s 4 for ds's 13th birthday in March - still way off my weight before he was born mind!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.
