  • Hi!

I think what is on the website is just a sample paper.

Aqe told me awhile ago that they would be posting them up, however when I rang them again a few weeks later they said they couldn't due to copyright.

Almost time for the letters to come out and I think some of us will be pleasantlr surprised. I have heard that our local grammar is taking right down to quintile 3. This is a school that last year turned away 12 A students, so here's hoping that this means that our kids don't need to be in the top end in order to get a first place offer.

    Which school is that?

I hope in future they issue grades and not scores.
  • Can someone please remind me what the scores are for quintile 3?

Awe there you are Kingston, I thought you'd been kidnapped by aliens. :rotfl:

I can't actually remember top of Q3 was 106 (I think) and the bottom was possibly 99. I'm probably wrong. I don't even know what I did with the result letter.

    I think it was:

    Q1 - 113 and above (All A's)
    Q2 - 112 - 106 (Mostly A's and top B1's)
    Q3 - 105 - 98 (B1's and Top B2's)
    Q4 - 97 - 85 (B2's and Start of C's)
    Q5 - 84 and below

With the numbers of children involved it stands to reason that schools will have to drop into bands that they perhaps wouldnt have in the past, I heard a rumour that in Lisburn Friends were going down to 106 and they normally turn away A's and Wallace were going down to 100.

Again everything is hearsay - at least its not long now!

:rotfl:nope. still here. Its all starting to feel a bit too real now...10 days and counting!! I just want it to be over now, no matter what the result!! Its been a long old haul!! Like you said in a previous post, bring on May 29th so we can then start complaining about the cost of uniforms :rotfl:Does anyone know what Wallace has taken in previous years?

kingston : Was looking through collection of "Stuff" to do with transfer 2009 and came across % intake of entrance grade accepted by each grammar school: Have a list of all grammar schools (if anyone wants I will list most tomorrow)

    Wallace High
    A 81%
    B1 13%
    B2 1%
    C1 1%
    C2 -
    D 1%
(this does not include special provisions)
  • Well if we are speculating on rumours - I happened to hear 3 different ones over the weekend.

First rumour - visiting father in law in Royal, the man who was in the bed opposite had a granddaughter who did the AQE and got 101. She goes to a Primary School in east Belfast and had Wellington College as her first choice. The grandad says his daughter told him that she had heard they were taking down as far as 95.

Rumour 2 - at a Formal I was attending - Someone spoke to a parent from Inchmarlo and they had been told by a teacher from the school that the top scoring Primary schools were St Bride's in Belfast, Stranmillis and Fullerton Prep.

Rumour 3 - at a kid's party attended by a member of the Board of Governors from MCB - they haven't taken any new students since the third round and were over subscribed - they had 282 applications for the 240 places.

All supposition and rumour and I will believe nothing until 29 May.......Fingers crossed for all involved.

The school is Dalriada and it has been really hard to get into over the past few years, the head came on radio and said he didn't expect to take anone outside of quintile 1 but after results came out he contacted schools to tell them to encourage kids from lower quintiles to apply. He obviously knew he didn't have enough top kids to fill the places. I am actually glad that we got scores this year as Dalriada is alawys over subscribed and they tended to admit prep school kids, siblings and kids from former pupils or staff first. They didn't even look at where you lived and could quite easily reject a child who lived next door and accept one who lived 20 miles away even if they both got A's. At least with scores they can give the places to the highest achievers first.:T
