If there is a story then it probably requires a McIntyre
analysis, rather than a quick comment on Newsline.
The starting point would be to ask for the number above 118 for each birth month.
Does anyone have knowledge of a July, August or September child who score above 120? Some of the earlier contributors with the high scoring classes maybe able to comment, if still following this thread.
I share the concerns in the post above.
The credibility of this assessment tool (as discussed in my earlier posts) remains open to question.

Survey: Any July, August, September birthdays above 120?
So far I'm aware of 2 schools without a single child in the first third of year above 120 but multiple children April to June.
Is Katiebear only person on site who has a positive reply to this post.
Thank you for your post.
I am aware of 4 neighbouring schools here in Co Antrim without any children in the first third of the school year scoring above 120.
There was some July-September birthdays scoring in the range of 101-110 but nothing higher.
In my childs class, I was able to guess within a small range what some of the children scored, because I knew when their birthdays fell. After 7 years you get to know who is where in the academic range.
All the later birthdays scored significantly higher than the others.
This is just an accurate account of my childs class.0 -
Transfer 2011
I just noticed on the AQE website that the registration for the 2011 aqe tests will be uploaded this Friday 14 May.
Looks like it's all running the same.
I really don't hold out any hope of us getting stats/ age standerisation etc now. They'll be too keen to sort out these applications now.
Let's hope they get more information than we did.0 -

my daughter scored 112 and her birthday is in January. I dont undersatnd what the big deal is over the birthdays. The younger children were given an extremeley small percentage to take into consideration their birthdays. certainly it is not a case of the other children being at at unfair advantage becuase of when their birthdays fell. At the end of the day i beleive the test to be a fair refelction of the childs ability and nothing else. i would seem that some parents are clutching at straws.0 -

I gave an accurate account of what children scored in my childs class and 4 neighbouring schools in my area. This was in response to a previous post, which I answered and I'm entitled to do so.
Well done to your daughter and I hope she gets into her chosen school.
I didn't mention my childs score or when her birthday was.
As for the small percentage for later bithdays, really none of us know that and surely if everything was so clear we wouldn't be offering advice or giving opinions on this thread.
I am certainly not clutching at straws and I'm sure other parents aren't either.0 -

Hi, does anyone know why AQE have still not put the papers that the children sat on their website? i rang them about 2 weeks ago and they assured me that they would be there in a few days. i find it all very strange. i really want to see the papers to see to what standard they were. looks as though they wont be putting them on. im going to ring again becasue i really feel that we have the right to see them. Any one else have any info re this?0

What did we pay for the test, was it £35? I've now forgotten. I've just done a horrendous calculation and came up with the assumption that if 7000 kids sat the test at a cost of £35 then AQE have accumulated £245,000 for running the test. What have we got for our money? A lot of heartache and confusion. Its no wonder AQE and GL failed to come to an agreement for a combined approach for the transfer 2011 kids. Somebody somewhere is making a fortune out of this.
So where exactly did that money go? Yes they printed off papers and sent them to the 37 grammar schools but lets be honest there has been little else they have done. Its the AQE Grammars who are to be applauded for their excellent management on the 3 Saturdays last year and the familiarisation days. :T
1. They sent out marks which left people even more in the dark than they were before.
2. They have provided stock responses to every question rather than take the time to explain things.
3. They will not provide a breakdown of results.
4. They will not provide a copy of the papers.
5. They will not provide information on age standardisation.
6. We are all still sitting here clueless a year after we applied for the tests in the first place.
As I have said before something really isn't right here and I cannot accept that AQE are not being taken to task for what is increasingly looking like a cover up operation. AQE we know you read this thread so please do take the opportunity to defend yourselves.
I emailed the Irish News about 3 weeks ago asking them whether they would get involved in trying to get answers. Unfortunately I have not had a response. I chose them as they did an article before linking on to this forum.0
