Anybody from the East Antrim area ie.carrickfergus, whiteabbey, ballyclare, larne etc...?0

I see from some previous comments that it has been stated that this is a low birth rate year. Does anyone actually know how many P7 children there actually are? I know a few schools in our area which have bigger classes this year. It is all very frustrating, I think I may crack up by May as we only have one choice of Grammar in our town and it is always over subcribed, the next school would mean my daughter has to get two different buses and be travelling for 3hrs a day. I'm really enjoying reading all the posts as my workmates are fed up listening as they don't really see what the fuss is about and at least I know when I give off on here I am talking to people in the same boat. Thanks.:A0

But as you say its a lottery. I think most of the kids from my sons school will be applying to Regent but I will try to find out more tomorrow[/QUOTE
Don't want to burst any bubbles, but I spoke with an obnoxious person at Regent (she didn't bother tell me who she was!) who advised that they only expect to take Q1 & 2.0 -
I can't see how any school can predict at this stage what scores they will accept. Surely they will have to see who applies first and then they will have a better idea, even then all applications will have to do the rounds before all the places are allocated as places can be won and lost when new applications from 2nd and 3rd choice children come in. I have come to the conclusion that if the top quintile and half of the next are A's then that is only about 2000 which means that with 4600 places to fill, over half of those places will go to to children with scores in quintile 3 and 4 so it is looking good for anyone who did the test and got a grade at all. It really all depends on the volume of higher scores in each area and we will never know that or how many children got each score. We will just have to wait and see, but if anyone has any better idea or method of getting more in depth info. I for one would be eager to hear it.;)0

i spoke 2 a friend of mine 2day her daughter got 92 she was breaking her heart cause her head teacher told her it wasnt worth putting glenola down as a choice . i told her 2 try its still a b2 . its so unfair when u hear this as she is very bright . its a worry for all parents no matter what the score but the kids have been under so much pressure nerves could have results in a lot of low scores 2 xx0

I know the headmaster at Ballyclare High told parents, at a post exam meeting, that he expected to take all first 3 quintiles.0 -
Hi everyone, just joined today but have been reading all the posts daily since the results came out and they have kept me somewhat sane:). Such a stressful time! my daughter scored 91, we had hoped she would do better and both her class teacher and principle felt she was capable of much more. Our principle just advised us to go ahead and put our preferences as if she had scored 145 and then wait and see what happens. i will almost certainly be grey by the time May comes lol!!0
