Really?? I thought the quintiles were just for illustrative purposes? So schools saying that they are taking in strict rank order are only doing so for part of their places then? Sorry if I am being a bit dense here, I've obviously missed something crucial here. Oh now I'm getting worried again. Can someone please explain this further? (sorry but this is the first I've heard of this)0

They haven't seen me since Wednesday so have missed the whole debacle of me revisiting 3 schools. It will take me until lunchtime for them to hear about that. :rotfl:
Ni Mum, I just knew I'd missed something about Methody. What does that all mean then?
It's pretty much rank order as bands are so small but it means that if there are say 20 pupils in the band that contains the final places, then criteria are applied so a lower mark could get in ahead of a higher mark in that band if they meet the criteria, eg free school meals.0 -
yes i went on to methodys site and there is an example of that eg 5 places remaining so they then go thru, sibling at shool. parent at school, free school meals etc etc so if you scored say 98 bt have none of the above the child with 96 who does will get in great EH!!!!!!!0

Thanks Ni Mum, I have just been to the Methody Criteria and description of how they are going to use it. Unfortunately we don't meet any of that criteria. I suppose at this stage no-one knows the banding either. I do hope I'm not going to have to torture their VP again tomorrow. :rotfl:0

thanks I understand now. Its really the same concept of the 90%/10% method. Just seems so unfair for the ones who don't get in even though their mark is higher than others that do get in. Can anyone confirm if BRA is using this method also?0 -

It all depends on which band contains the cut off mark and if you can answer that you're a genius:rotfl:0 -
Nevermind I will continue to have immense pleasure at forking out £21 every Monday for 5 days dinners for 2 kids. In another few years I'll be able to up that to £33. All done in the knowledge that I've worked for the money whilst others can have precedence in getting a decent grammar school place as they get their meals free. Thank you once again Ms Ruin.
Sorry for the rant.0 -

right so to me that sounds like its strictly rank order and that this criteria is only applied if there are several candidates with the same score for the final place. have I got that right?0 -
