  • Oops, Ex Spend!!! That sounds like a great trip, but I will end up in the poorhouse if I get any more notes. Kingston, daughter dearest had to learn the first 39 books of the bible and is now learning how ever many are in the New Testament among other stuff. Considering they seem so strict, some of the stuff I've heard would make your hair curl, she nearly missed the bus 2 fridays ago because two upper sixth girls were 'clawing the face of each other' and apparently the headmistress is going to remove drinks cans from the machines as they were found lying all over the hockey pitch, you wouldn't have heard the like in my day!
Total debt £20,000 Northern Rock loan:eek:
    Debt free date April 2016!!!!

How is it going everyone? Its hard to believe that this time last year we were up to our necks in practice papers and facing the unknown.

How are the Grosvenor kids doing? So far I'm very impressed with the school and believe we made the right choice. Child is happy and thats the main thing. Homeworks haven't been too bad yet although I'm sure they are breaking the little darlings in gently. :rotfl:

I was amazed that when they went swimming we didn't have to pay. That is a novelty. My only irk is the school dinners/canteen. At the beginning a note arrived saying that dinners were £2.40 per day so I proceeded to send £12 per week in the belief that a dinner would be bought on a daily basis. So far all I'm hearing about is slices of pizza and cans of appletiser. I phoned the school and they said there isn't a set meal. Surely that can't be right?

My daughter has settled in well at Grosvenor - very contented and doing well. Funnily enough my daughter only ever seems to have pizza and appletizer!!!!! She complains that there is never any food. I wish they allowed the 1st years to go for dinner 1st just until they get used to the whole new way of lunching.

    Thanks Relievedmum.

Mine was sent home sick last Friday too - not sure whether it was the thought of rugby that did it. His residential is this week and he can't wait.

I thought the kids ate their pack lunches in the canteen too? Yes I have that A5 leaflet but he tries to tell me that half the stuff isnt available. If he doesn't start eating something other than paninis and pizza then he'll be bringing a packed lunch soon.

Yes we are still waiting on 2 tops and a pair of socks. He came home a couple of weeks ago insisting that he needed a white T shirt for the following day because the tops hadn't arrived. I refused to go and buy one so he went in a navy nike T shirt. I don't know whats going on they've had the orders nearly 4 months now.

Just catching up here on all these entries I want to reply to!!

Luckily we are only waiting for sports sock although I'm finding it tricky trying to get my daughter to find out how to order a hoody!!!!!
  • Yep it was pizza and appletiser today again. :rotfl: There are times when you actually wish your child would just make something up to keep you happy.

Joanne, when did you receive the school fund note? Mine just appeared tonight looking the money on Thursday. Its dated September and I've sneaky suspicion its been hanging around in a schoolbag for a while but son swears blind he only got it today.
  • Hi all Glad to hear everyone settling into their new schools. Does any of the Grovenor parents know where to purchase the school scarf?
  • Oops typing error-meant Grosvenor.

Have you got your sports tops yet? What do you think of the quality? Tbh I'm a bit disappointed in the "rugby" top. It certainly doesn't feel like Canterbury quality, very thin and also on the creases of the sleeves there are white patches as if its almost threadbare. I am usually easy to please :D but feel a bit miffed by this especially when you can't see what you are paying for beforehand.

Have my parent/teacher interview this pm with the form teacher so may mention it and see if any others have said anything.

The hoody's are lovely - I imagine if you ring the office they should be able to let you know how much they are and send home the "right envelope" lol!
  • Warnocks on the Lisburn Road definitely have Grosvenor scarves. I didn't buy one as I knew it would end up keeping good company with the unworn jumper. :rotfl:

I just knew he had that note stashed for a while. I sent mine in today in cash - I'm not sending cheques for them to sit around like the PE kit ones did. So no doubt that will be sent back today and I'll have to send it in again tomorrow. You think they'd take it while it was being offered. Never mind though its £40 and not £950 like RBAI or £2280 for Campbell so I'm happy. :j

My interview is next week and I'll be chasing up the missing bits of PE kit and also asking about the dinners. I sound like a right old bag.

I think we were given the letter at the end of last week also and I'll def be sending in cash as it was absolutely ridiculous how long we waited for the sports kit cheque to be cashed!!! I had to keep an eye on my account (I don't tend to lol). I shouldn't really complain considering it is much cheaper than other schools.

We're just back from parent/teacher meeting and I have to say her form teacher is a lovely woman. I did have to raise the issue of the fact that my daughter received a missed homework letter for missing art homework because she was ABSENT!!!! Form teacher had no involvement in it and recommended that I contact the teacher and remind her that my daughter was absent. The same teacher still hasn't given my daughter a sketch pad to be able to do the homework in ??????????????????
