My son got 96 and did not get into our top 2 grammar school choices despite having an daughter at choice no.1. Am gutted !
He's ok about it...wish I could say the same...Catriona Ruane best stay out of my vicinity.0 -
Stu247, did you son get into a grammar? My baby girl is very upset, but has the determination to do well anywhere. My eldest didn't get into her school of choice a few years back and now would not change where she is for anything, so maybe things will work out fine for your boy..96 is a very respectable score so he did well!!0

Nope, fraid not. Only 2 realistic grammar choices in the Carrick region without being silly travel wise.
I know he will do well regardless and I know I'm being selfish hoping to get both children at the same school for convenience, still a bitter pill to swallow though.
Glad its all over anyway...best wishes to your daughter

Thanks, all we can do is hope that we have a positive influence on our kids and fill them with self belief that they can achieve whatever they want regardless of what school they start at.....:-)0

Hi there
My daughter is absolutely gutted (as are we) that she didnt get into Wallace. What makes it worse is that her classmate was accepted who only scored 103, my daughter got 104. This other girl did not meet as much criteria either not being the eldest child or having any criteria higher than my child. Any advice on this or appeals would be greatly appreciated, thanks.0 -

I was told that there are an amazing amount of special circumstances that got children in. Whilst some were undoubtedly genuine, others can be spurious and unfortunately this can push those who would be entitled to a place out. Maybe it would be worth asking what percentage of special circumstances were accepted? My own son lets just say had to stay on the loo for a long time prior to the exams but I know this was just fear, I really think using it would have been morally unfair, I thought the process should be kept for the really serious matters.0 -
Lisburnmum, I feel for you and your daughter...did she get into her second choice? 104 is an excellent score, so hopefully her second choice is somewhere good too...but if i was in your position I would consider appealing too. We just have to accept that though my dd score would have got her into a grammar last year it didnt this year...very upsetting but trying to move on and be positive for her..0

Hi
No she got her 3rd choice which was Hunterhouse but has to travel on the same bus unfortunately with a girl who gave her hassle all the way through primary, we were all hoping for a fresh start.
Hopefully things will work out!!!0 -
If there are any bullying incidents please tell the form teacher at the school. Teachers are always on the look out for bullying and it's dealt with immediately. Often, though, we have to be made aware of it first. Hunterhouse has an excellent pastoral system. Make sure you use it if you need to.Stercus accidit0
