That blazer seems very reasonable Ex Spendaholic - I usually pay £60 in Gowdys in their July offer and then another £10 to get the pocket replaced with the house colour one (I think it looks better getting the whole new pocket than sewing the badge on)

Thriftmonster the prices you are quoting are more what I was expecting. I'm thinking the guy in Littles must have been talking about a small child's blazer or something. :rotfl:
  • Ex Spend - I got ds uniform for Grosvenor in Littles today - Blazer, trousers, jumper (which can be returned if he decides hes not wearing it!!!) 4 x shirts, socks and tie - £116.00

Not as bad as I expected!:T

Not bad at all RelievedMum. What type of blazer did you get? I've now heard from a mum of a child already in Grosvenor and she said that the boys don't wear the really heavy wool blazers nor polyester but something in between. See you tomorrow night for the shellling out of a couple of hundred quid on a PE Kit.
  • Tbh in Littles we didn't even get a choice (although I knew the wool blazer was an option). The ones they have seem to be a really good quality - heavier than the "shiny" polyester and fully washable. They are a polyester/viscose mix. Its lined and has "shoulderpads" to keep the shape at the shoulders. It was £39.95.

Must admit had a wee lump in my throat when he was all dressed up in it - looked so grown up! He is so excited about tomorrow night - I imagine the PE kit will prob be more expensive than the rest!
  • Hi i wonder if anyone can give me some advise on this. My daughter is going to BRA and i have noticed that i have the choice of paying £14 a month or £37 per month for school fees. i understand some of these are vol. but im wondering what most people pay, the lesser amount or the higher amount?

I have no connection with BRA but believe that in most schools anything they call "voluntary" is expected anyway. I know that Methody have the capital fee of £140 (or something like that) and then voluntary fees on top. However a friend who has kids there says there is no way you wouldn't be paying the "voluntary fees".

You need to find some parents with kids already there to see what the story is. You don't want to be going with the £37 a month and then finding out that you are the only one paying it either.

We are for Grosvenor tonight. Their fees are only £40 per year (unless we hear tonight about some voluntary ones on top)
  • I would also like to know if anyone can give information re: voluntary fees for BRA as newtonabbey mum posted. My daughter is also starting here and I don't know the situation either. Help!
  • The Voluntary Grammars have extra charges eg; Methody, BRA etc

The Controlled Grammars I don't think should have extra charges.

Yes Methody's is £140 compulsory and about £380 voluntary - I think most pay it!! Or they say they do anyway!!!
