The reason why the 2 groups couldn't agree on a single test for nextyear was down to paying or not paying - indirectly and probably without knowing people were paying for the GL tests. Check out the website below from PACE (remember they were removed from the forum at the start;)). They have a response to a Freedom of Information request there from Ballymena Academy - http://paceni.wordpress.com
JosieJo - I can't access the link as it's been blocked by my employer but I wanted to comment about the bit of your post I highlighted. The schools who used GL paid for the test out of their general school budget. Given that these budgets are allocated by DENI it could of course be said that people paid indirectly for the tests but that would be the taxpayer in general, and the kids already at the grammar school in particular, rather than the parents of the children who sat the tests. I am not offering an opinion on the merits of this, just stating what I believe to be the case.0 -

Just wanted to say to those wondering about a school coat - hold off, because none of them wear one - Sullivan must smell of wet sheep on a wet day - it's just not cool. Ds1 has a black cagoule for emergencies - but doesn't use it.
Have followed this thread with interest - didn't want to post till now - ds2 had 119 and an elder sibling at Sullivan so we weren't too worried this time. Getting ds1 into Sullivan - I was a bag of nerves.
A lot of children in ds2's class had to take both sets of tests - GL for Lagan and the catholic grammars and AQE for the others - the joys of an integrated primary. So ds2 ended up doing practice papers for both as that's how the school did it even though he only took AQE.
Really glad most of you got what you wanted.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Thriftmonster, well done to your son. :T :T That is an absolutely fantastic score. You are one of the few people I've heard of who could be confident in the wait between issue of scores and allocation of schools.
Edith, was that for the child or both?
I called in at Littles last Saturday morning to enquire about uniform. He said most boys get the polyester blazer for Grosvenor. Erm I don't think so. He told me the wool ones are about £45. Are they really that cheap? I thought they were about £70-£80.0 -
