My little 95er got into grosvenor his 1st choice!!!!

Congratulations to all children who recieved their schools today!So where does this now leave Catriona Ruane and her department?Its all very well abolishing the old 11 plus but with no replacement this action taken so very publicly by well over 30 grammer schools in complete defience could only be expected.Despite Ruanes best efforts including delaying publication of a report which clearly stated public opinion favoured academic selection,grammer schools were forced to use my daughter and thousands of other children to maintain their standards with a new selection test.This has caused great resentment as we are supposed to be living in a democracy at what point did Catriona listen to the will of the people.Maybe Catriona should revive her tennis career as she did enjoy a limited amount of success and stay out of politics as we now know she has blinkered vision and negative stubborness.Husband of Lisburn mum.

Most of our son's class applied for there.

(He got 1st choice Grosvenor - see you on 21st June ex-spendaholic!)

Devestation in our household today... my son didn't get into Methody (his first choice) with his score of 100 Quite shocked as his sister goes there!!!!! Can't actually get my head around it!! Neither did 2 of his friends get accepted, one with the same score as him and the other with 98!!!

He got accepted into INS though, but if truth be told between here, Methody and the local High School he didn't want to go here!!

But as most parents, we will make the most of it

Please for all those children who got accepted in their 1st choice!! Does wonders for their confidence (as I experienced last year with my daughter!!)

I presume this is to do with the further banding of 5 scores that methody adopted. the band of 5 marks in which the 240th score fell had additional criteria applied. whether there was 1 student or 20 in this band! they were all treated the same and then they applied the criteria - that must be why a lower score got in over a higher score.

It's a strange one. The girl that got 100 isn't eldest in family nor has any siblings at Methody and there were no special cirumstances that I'm aware of.

This in all honesty has confused me more! I just can't understand how my son didn't get into Methody with a score of 100, esp as his sister is there!! My daughter got accepted last year with a B2! (normally obtained all A's in her practice transfer test..... she panicked and missed a whole page during the actual test, noticed at the last minute when checking before the time was up!!)

I don't know what to do! Do I try and fight this? Or do we accept with INST??!!! Has the 'free school meals' criteria

We are distraught with the whole process!!

I have been lurking for months now and have really appreaciated reading all the posts from you all in the same boat as me - I feel I know you all personally!.

My daughter did the AQE (97) and GL (B2) and I really was holding my breath for her first choice Assumption Grammar in Ballynahinch.

Well she got in!!!! and I have been close to tears all day long. We are so proud of her and it now makes life so much easier, especially for my younger daughter going through the process in two years time. We sweated blood and tears for the past year and at times were close to giving up, but seeing her wee face today was worth it. She has had her heart set on this school for years!

Since the results came out I have been clinging on to the fact that the numbers were significantly down this year so it gave her a better chance than anyone who didnt sit the test (sorry I know this is controversial but its my opinion) I think she would have fared worse if it was the old style 11+ to be honest.


Anyway after phoning the world and their granny to tell the good news, we went to look at the uniform and she got to try it on (I forgot to take a photo!) We bought a tie and scarf and she has been practising tying her tie ever since we got home (bless!)

Go congratulations to all of you who had their (good) dreams come true today and comiserations to those who didnt.

But God I'm tired !!

Appeal it if you feel strong enough, something may have went wrong somewhere. Its worth it if you have the energy and strength to continue the longest process ever......
