Make a day of it and check out Maryville tea rooms on the opposite side of the road - I plan to.:)0

Must be worse with girls - all those issues about socks, skirt lengths and heels on shoes. Thankfully I've a few years before that nonsense kicks in.0

We are already checking out school bag styles - some girls have seriously stylish bags.:rotfl:0 -
Oh don't mention school bags. A Superdry one from Cult has already been muted around here. I'm one of those mugs who never says no. The annual trip out for pencil cases and stationery is quite an event in our house. I get well and truly ripped off by giving into rubbishy fads.0

So far on the school run we've spotted Hollister, Abercrombie, Jack Wills, Cath Kidson - somehow Wyse Byse isn't going to cut it.0

Wow, scary stuff. There was me worrying about blazer prices and it looks like the school bag is going to cost even more. :rotfl: Better start ebaying.0

I imagine such articles probably cost about £30. Whilst I am not averse to buying one, I have a long history with a son who at best could be described as "through other". At the beginning of each primary year I have bought 3 school sweatshirts, 5 shirts and 3 pairs of trousers. By Christmas this year there wasn't a sweatshirt to be seen and the trousers were ripped beyond repair. So off I went and wasted more money on 1 sweatshirt and 2 pairs of trousers. Those trousers made through until March when I had to chuck them and bought just the one pair. They are currently falling apart but will do until the end of term. Our school does polo shirts from Easter onwards. I bought 3 of those and they are a disgrace. Each and every one has permanent marks on. When you iron them they look like they haven't been washed at all. Don't even let me start on the shoes.
So this year my son is going to learn to look after school uniform. I have already told him that he will be responsible for replacing lost bits out of his own money. All he really cares about though is getting a locker and checking out the school vending machines. :rotfl:
OMG exspendaholic, I think our sons must really be twins. If I didn't know better I'd think you were talking about my son. He too has no sweatshirts left (all 5 lost) and his trousers, shirts and and shoes are a disgrace. Also, on the open nights the first thing he did was look for the vending machines :eek:0 -
Its a nitemare. If he loses a blazer then he needn't come home. I can't remember if it was Methody or Wellington who only had bottles of water to drink. He really was not amused and was under some belief that grammar schools meant drinking cans of coke at lunchtime. As for the locker I really dread to think what will grow in there. Old lunches and the like. His locker will be identifiable by smell. :rotfl:0

Well must go to bed and dream once again of what that letter will say. :rotfl:
Just noticed that this thread has been viewed 98500 (ish) times. I reckon by Sunday night it will be at the 100,000 mark. Hopefully by that stage we will all be deliriously happy with our school allocations.0
