Dear God, £400 for the uniform??!!! I feel a tad unwell. Kingston, I'm not originally from this side o' town, so I have no idea where to purchase the seemingly scandalous priced uniforms, please tell me where? In my day, I'd to go to some ancient shop in Gresham Street, funny when you think of a girls school uniform outfitters placed nicely between some exceedingly seedy establishments...We assumed a uniform list would come with the letter and have also said we will buy her her tie on saturday morning, no doubt a great many of us will bump into each other, if I see any gleeful mothers I will cough 'neveranymoney' under my breath and see if anyone responds!

Neveranymoney, you are truly hilarious :rotfl:As our two kids are no doubt going to end up at same school, I am going to ask my son to track down neveranymoney's daughter :rotfl:The main uniform stockist around here is Gordon's in Carrickfergus. It is on the main Shore road in Carrick near the police station. They are very good and if you buy before the end of July you get ten percent off the whole uniform. If you are worried about her growing out of it before sept you can exchange for different sizes later on in summer and still get discount.

Can't believe we are nearly there! But for me the journey will continue on, as I shall be very interested in knowing all the schools' "cut off" scores. Even then they will probably be grouped in small ranges..

I have to say I still feel annoyed that on the 6th Feb, there was little information to support the "score". We didn't intially celebrate cause we didn't really know what it meant, as you know our score was 112 (which we later found out was a very good score) and not even the head of the school could help us when we went to fill in the transfer form. Basically the joy of jumping around with an A, B1, B2 or whatever was taken away from us, and a child will always remember the results day, cause I do. I know that this has all been said before but I have to let off steam somewhere !!!

I just hope that 29th May is a more memorable day for us all.

And Yes, I for one, am still very much interested in seeing those stats.

Rant over (I feel so much better now!!)

    My daughters score - 112.

    Choices:-

    Strathearn
    Bloomfield
    Wellington
    Grosvenor
    Ashfield Girls'

KATHYBEAR- Similar to your choices except the last one!

neveranymoney - where is Ulydia Integrated?

Ulidia is an integrated secondary school in Carrickfergus. It is heavily oversubscribed and is actually harder to get into than the majority of the grammars but not from an academic perspective. Like the other secondary schools pupils seeking admission did not need to sit AQE. Their entrance criteria is based on religion and other social factors such as a whether an integrated primary school was attended, a brother sister at the school. Their intake is made up of different percentages of protestant and catholic religions as well as other religions and no religions. Basically, if you are protestant you have virtually no chance unless your child attended the primary or they have a sibling at the school. As this area of east antrim is predominantly protestant, it is much easier for a child from a catholic background to gain admission. I think they accept something like 30% from a R.C background. It is meant to be a good school but then I have to say all of the secondary schools in Carrick get a good name.

Yeah I imagine the primary schools will have the information the Friday. Personally if I had any power I would stop ours having it as they have done naff all to help either the kids or parents during the process.

I know that our primary principle has the letters sent to his home on the sat morning. I know where he lives so if letter doesnt arrive I WILL be driving to his home.

I agree totally with you. For me, the worst bit about the whole process has been the confusion over the scores...very bad way of doing it AQE!!! It has caused so much stress for all pupils, parents and primary heads alike!

Bonno, I couldn't agree more with your last post.

On results day we opened the letter and read 104 and rapidly went to the table to find out where that score sat in the great scheme of things. I was initially very alarmed to find it was at the top end of the 3rd quintile. To be totally honest we had expected quintile 1 due to the consistent 70-73 out of 75 in practice tests so this was a shock and a bit disappointing. We thought it was goodnight to a grammar school place.

It was only when speaking to his classmates that we came to see that it was a pretty decent score. However for a child who was top at everything through 7 years of school it just didn't seem to be right.

Even now when people ask how he did and you don't have the luxury of saying A, B1 or whatever its really confusing to try to explain things.

My quest for stats will continue too.

I agree. AQE we know you are reading this!! We are not going to go away after results come on Sat. We want clarification and having paid for these tests, we have the right to ask for this!

My son got 120 and was initially disappointed as he had scored highly in practice papers and so thought his score would be over 130. It was only after we heard everyone elses scores that he realised how well he did. He still doesn't believe he'll almost certainly get into his first choice school.
