  • I'm SE Belfast (score 106) and my first choice is Methody followed by Victoria. I'm not sure if that's enough for Methody but think it should be ok for Victoria.

Methody is such a fine establishment. I know Grosvenor is our first choice and I hope he gets it but I will always wonder about Methody. :o
  • My son is already at Methody so it would make life really easy if my daughter got the same school. I loved Grosvenor when we viewed it but I couldn't persaude my son to make it his 1st choice although it was his 2nd. My daughter loved Victoria but yet again, not enough to make it her 1st choice. I'll be heading to Warnocks for uniforms - they offer a discount if you buy early and guarantee to change anything that's too small before Sept.

In your experience Belfast Mum, is the uniform really expensive? I have this figure of £400 in my head to cover uniform and PE gear but I've no idea if I'm on the right track. Its goodbye to good old M&S. I always did there 3 for 2 deals with both kids uniforms.
  • I've only experience of boys uniforms and I buy the necessities (blazer/tie) from school shop and shirts/trousers elsewhere. I got caught out with him in first year and bought a sweater which has never been on his back - apparently only 1st years wear sweaters - didn't seem to matter when I pointed out he was a 1st year!! Blazer has lasted 2 years (I think about £60) and sportswear had to be purchased directly from school - again it's lasted 2 years and I may even get a few months of 3rd year out of them. I don't think it's as easy with girls uniforms as skirt will be regulation and she will probably want matching scarf etc

I have heard that about the sweaters. It seems to be the same at all the schools. It such a shame, I think the sweaters are lovely!!
  • Just checked Warnocks website and they do uniforms for Grosvenor. As I said they offer discount for early purchase - give them a ring and I'm sure they'd fax/email you the uniform list.

I'm so glad you mentioned the sweater. I've been looking at Grosvenor pupils (as you do) :rotfl:and never see any of them in a sweater. I imagine such articles probably cost about £30. Whilst I am not averse to buying one, I have a long history with a son who at best could be described as "through other". At the beginning of each primary year I have bought 3 school sweatshirts, 5 shirts and 3 pairs of trousers. By Christmas this year there wasn't a sweatshirt to be seen and the trousers were ripped beyond repair. So off I went and wasted more money on 1 sweatshirt and 2 pairs of trousers. Those trousers made through until March when I had to chuck them and bought just the one pair. They are currently falling apart but will do until the end of term. Our school does polo shirts from Easter onwards. I bought 3 of those and they are a disgrace. Each and every one has permanent marks on. When you iron them they look like they haven't been washed at all. Don't even let me start on the shoes.

So this year my son is going to learn to look after school uniform. I have already told him that he will be responsible for replacing lost bits out of his own money. All he really cares about though is getting a locker and checking out the school vending machines. :rotfl:
  • I have a brand new Methody boys sweater if anyone can persaude their son to wear it!

Thanks I'll ring Warnocks in the morning. Something else to do in work in between checking this thread. :rotfl::rotfl: I see they guarantee the discount if you leave a £30 deposit. At this rate of going I'll be buying the whole lot on Saturday. :rotfl::rotfl:
