0.9 miles. I've never had a commute of more than about 30 minutes!

Always interesting to hear about other people's commutes, makes me feel either better or worse about mine (and at least helps put it in perspective!).

50 miles out, 50 miles back. Kent to South-East London.

Shiftwork job so mainly travelling outside the peak hours.

By public transport (door-desk: walk/train/train/bus/walk): Approx 2hrs30min each way.

By car: Approx 1hr / 1hr15mins each way depending on traffic (47 miles dual-carriageway, 3 miles suburban London streets)

Plenty of public transport available, but poor connections and slow journeys mean that I choose to drive and save myself up to 3hrs each day.

I find the drive far more relaxing than the public transport alternative.
  • Thanks for all your replies. I am now no longer a poll virgin, have worked it out.

Thank you to all who post on here!!!! :A
  • One is a 20 minute walk - 2.5 days. The other is a 20 minute walk to bus stop (bus is free between hospitals) and the ride is about 35 minutes
  • Before being made redundent i used to travel 160 miles a day to work, for very little pay and no travel expenses. :(
It took it's toll on my car which is'nt getting any younger lol, so i plan to find a job a little closer to home.

I travel 7 miles each way by car!
  • For my main job I drive 22 miles each way, although it is quite rural and not a lot of congestion until I get close to work. In my second job I probably drive another 150 miles a week spread over different days.

My 22 miles takes about 45 minutes but the scenery is ok and I just use the time to chill out listening to the radio (which I don't get the chance to do at home) - I enjoy it.
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x
