How Many Miles Do You Travel to Work?
Comments
-
45 miles each way - takes about an hour by car. Not realistically possible by public transport.
Previously it was 100 miles each way so this is a welcome change!0 -
I just worked out I walk 10 miles some days

On a good day it's fine, it can take 15 minutes door to door - great! But on a bad day - and with Manchester's Metrolink, that's most days - it can take in excess of an hour, if the trams turn up at all. To go 3 miles!! I seriously should quit and get a job within walking distance, I'd be much happier.
surely you could walk 3 miles in less than an hour...The futures bright the future is Ginger0 -
At least 250 - 300 miles per day 3 or 4 days a week. Not much work about in Wales so forced to travel to pay my mortgageThe best way to escape a problem is to solve it :j0

Just to expand a little:
Work (2 days a week):
9 miles of country roads and 11 miles of dual carriageway, takes around 25-30 minutes.
Uni (4 days a week):
2 routes:
35 miles, of which 30 is single carriageway (Norwich Road) - whole journey takes about 50 minutes to an hour depending on traffic (road is very congested).
Or 38 miles, of which 13 is country roads and 25 is dual carriageway, with no traffic at all. Takes around 45 minutes in good conditions. And more fun too!
The Uni commute goes to an overflow carpark though, which is 20 minutes walk from anything I actually need to get too
Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -

From 1993 to 2003 I commuted into London, 40 miles each way, using car or bus to the station, train to London, tube or bus to the office. End to end journey was on average 90 mins but often longer due to traffic, underground probs etc etc.
It was bearable (usually !) because I loved my job.

If I'm on site, its a bus journey of about 1.5miles and takes about 10 mins.
To go to the office, it's about 10 min drive - 3 miles.
If I go to my second site which is potentially 4 days per month, most months I dont have to go , it's 44 miles each way on the M25 and takes around 50 mins but I do get paid mileage for this.Lightbulb moment Dec 2005 - debt £23700
June 2010 - £17984.210
