what's an ohw letter? i have to go for a substance test on wednesday.

Hi,

New to this forum, just signed up cause I saw this topic!

OHW is Occupational Health and Well-Being - they sent out new medical forms recently.

I had my Substance Misuse Test yesterday.

Glad this finally seems to be moving - been out of work for a few months and would be glad to get working again!

ahh right. yes, i have my medical form to hand in tomorrow.

what did they take in the substance test? not sure if i need a bottle of water to be able to... supply, or if i need a tissue to cry if they chop a bit of my hair off, haha.

In that case you will need the tissue - lol!

They take a hair sample.

oh dear, haha, can i specify where they cut it from? have quite a short style, but one side would be ok if they took from a lower layer.

The sample they take needs to be at least 3 cm long and they have to take it from the top area of your head.

that i can do, but will have to work on hiding a tufty bit for a while haha.

how long does it take? my cousin is driving me round as i don't know the area well, and don't want to leave him waiting if it's gonna be long.

It took probably 20 - 25 minutes to complete. you have lots of things to sign and date etc, so takes a while to do all that.

When I went for mine they were running more than 30 minutes behind scedule though.

Was a bit of a wait!

am getting myself all excited now, don't wanna get my hopes up too much, but at the same time, people are all saying, oh they wouldn't be drugs testing you if there wasn't a job for you, argh! thank god it'll all be over and done with fairly quickly from now though!

Yes, I hope that is the case as well. It will be good to be earning some money again after being out of work!

I have heard that too, appartently it costs quite a bit to do the tests so if you are called it usually a sign that a job is available.

Is your test in Belfast as well?
